Very nice looking bear hide. A really good bear is one of my bucket list hunts.
If that young man is hurting for space to display that bear, tell him to spread it out on his bed & sleep under it.
He will be a for real mountain man then.

I’ve been wanting to try these out in .257. I got a feeling they’ll work real good in the .257 Roberts and the .25-06 I have hanging out in the safe.

Looks like it turned out really nice. With the optic you are planning to put on it , I believe it will shoot just as good as it looks.

I fired fb about 8 years ago. If I have need to get online with social media type site to discuss reloading, hunting, etc this site is just fine.

I have used Varget for the 30-30 in the past. I don’t remember how much I used, although it was with the 160gn Hornady flextip bullet.
I used this to zap a hog or 7 down in the bottoms.
I switched over to the Leverevoltion powder due to my rifle indicating it liked it better.

Nice looking lever guns guys. My wife’s favorite hunting rifle is a Marlin Glenfield 30-30. It has a Marlin labeled 4x scope on it.
I found it in a lgs quite a few years back and took it home , for under $200. I couldn’t pass it up as it was in very good shape and scoped as well.
It really...
Looks like it’ll fly just fine. I’ve been on the prowl for some .257 bullets in the 110 gn range but have been unable to get any.
They always seem to be out of stock.

I honestly have never thought about trying to recover a bullet from a hog I’ve zapped.
I always shoot them in the head and that part just gets dropped in the gut bucket with the hide.

Awesome job. My absolute favorite critter to hunt is the feral hog.
Great shot. Looks like the partition did the job just fine.
That’s the funny thing about hogs, even when you kill them it seems to take a little while for the notion they’re dead to catch up with them.

That’s some fine shooting there. Looks like you found the load you’re rifle likes.
The moose you point it at are in big trouble.

Not quite what you’re asking about, but the closest thing I have to a big bore lever gun is my M-71 Winchester in .348.
It’s a early model, 1st or 2nd year production, and it’s taken its share of Elk, whitetail & hogs.
Funnest day I’ve spent afield with it was the day I was part of a wild...
I would recommend sending an email to Hornady asking them what powder & primer they used for the load you are wanting to work up.
I have done that in the past and their technicians responded with the data I needed to recreate the the factory load I was wanting to use.
