It looks like QL sets the default max pressure at 58,700 psi, which I didn't notice til now. You should be ok to work up to 270 win pressures (65k), but as always, work up slowly & watch for pressure. Hitting 3000 fps should be easily doable.
My opinion...IMR-4350 is probably gonna be a...
Here ya go. All default settings. I used 140 gr Accubonds since you didn't specify what bullet you're planning on using. I can run another one with a different bullet if you let me know.
Cartridge : .280 Ack Imp
Bullet : .284, 140, Nosler AccuBond 59992
Useable Case...
Tried some test loads with IMR-4831 pushing some 140 gr Accubonds today. Besides my typical 2 in-1 out groupings (and the horizontal stringing), I can live with a hair over 1'' at 200 yards. I haven't had a chance to run this load over the chrony, but according to QL, it should be in the...
Thanks for all of the pointers fellas.
I'm in the process of giving the bore a scrub down. Recently I've tried to clean my rifles after every 100-120 rounds.
Here's where I'm at right now. I pulled the Weaver that was on the 25-06 and put it on 243...might throw the Bushnell that was on the...
Here are the results. I finally got to the range Sunday morning. It was a bit chili (20*-25*) but calm.
After looking at the target when I got home, I have no idea why I didn't shoot more than 3-shots, but it looks like nothing has changed. I made sure to wait until the barrel was cold to...
Looks like a slick set up. I hate setting up my chrony, especially when there's 5 people standing around waiting to shoot.
Too bad I'd have to sell all of my guns to afford one
I might try that...thanks for the tip.
I do have a lead sled but I just use it as a rest for cleaning and maintenance. I haven't shot off of it in a couple of years. It created too many bad habits. I don't think this scope has ever been shot off of it.
Thanks Homer...some good info there.
I checked the bedding like you suggested and I couldn't feel any movement in the action, that and I double checked that the mag box had some clearance...all good there too.
I pulled the action from the stock yesterday, applied some lipstick to the recoil...
On a whim, I decided to check the scope rings to make sure nothing was loose (all good) and while I was at it, decided to check to make the scope (reticle) was level...well it wasn't...it was a full bubble off. Not sure how I screwed that up but it's fixed now. I don't know if that was the...
It could very well be my cheek weld more than the scope.
We've had some weird weather here this winter where it'll be 60* one day and 5 days later it barely gets above 10*. Unless the wind is blowing like heck...I'll go shoot in about any weather. The more layers I have to throw on makes...
Scope is a Weaver Super Slam (3-15x42) that's only about a year old, so it shouldn't be the reticle, but I guess anything's possible.
Would shooting at a lower power...say 8 or 9...take any parallax issue out of the equation?
It has shot well in the past. I've had groups measuring a just a hair over an inch @ 200 yds with this bullet and R-22.
See above, but this rifle has always been a bit cantankerous. I have yet to find a load that is real consistent in it. I've swapped out my RCBS dies for Lee Collet Dies and...
These are 100 gr Barnes TSX's, which I have a fairly good supply of. I seriously thought about dropping down to a 80 gr TTSX, but I just haven't done it...yet.
I was working on a some loads with 100 gr & 117 gr. Hornady Interlocks (flat base & boat tails) and 117 gr Sierra Pro Hunters. The...
