Question for you Model 70 nuts...

I slobber at the sight of such a beautiful rifle. There is something classy about a rifle with ebony forend tip and a Schnabel forend. I have 2 Featherweights in 264WM and 7 Mauser and both have the Leupold FX-6 scopes on them. A lot less to go wrong in a fixed power scope.

    The arsenel that follows me...

Here ya go. Serial number dates to 1946. One of the last Utica Savages before they moved to Chicopee Falls. I have a Leupold on it now since it was already d&t before I got it.

Elkman, thank you so much for the kind offer. I am to the point where I won't be load developing anymore till after my hunt. I am going to practice, practice, practice and be as sharp as I can for my hopefully first deer. Thank you again.

    Optimal Barrel Time?

Ouch. That makes my head hurt. It's enough for me to just try and do things consistently vis a vis the reloading manuals I've learned from. I've learned so much by just burning powder that if I tried to apply any of that it would be like when Mickey Mantle talked with Ted Williams during an All...

    The arsenel that follows me...

I found one pound of RL22 locally a few months back and worked up loads for a 264WM and that's the last I've seen of any. If I could find some more I'd work with it. Such is the times we're living in. I was tickled spitless when I came upon an 8# keg of H4350 I'm using now.

    The arsenel that follows me...

Thanks fellas. I sure do appreciate the encouragement. Did more range work today and if I do my part I'm consistently getting just less than an inch. Sunday I will go up in the hills and practice in field positions.

    The arsenel that follows me...

To Bearpaw Outfitters for a whitetail hunt up north. I first tried out my Savage 99 in 300 Savage but that rifle us going to take more time than I got to work with it. So I move next to my Kimber in 257 Roberts. Looking at 45.0grs of H4350 for 3000 fps. using 100 NPT and 43 grains of H4350 with...

    Journey toward a whitetail hunt

Thanks for the well wishes. I appreciate it. Guy, yes its got a 2-7 leupold on it. I have to get low rings for it, I just discovered that as I haven't shot it in so long. I can't get a good cheek weld on it. Yes Dr. Mike there is considerable excitement building.

    Journey toward a whitetail hunt

Thanks to Guy Miner am now doing a whitetail hunt with Bearpaw outfitters in NE WA state. Since the distances are much shorter there I will be using a Savage 99 in 300 Savage. I will use 150gr Partitions. I couldn't think of a more classic woods deer rifle than the Savage. Now I've got to get on...

    Journey toward a pronghorn hunt.

Well I worked from field positions today with a target from Wolfe Publishing. It's a half size target of a pronghorn. So at 100 yards it is really what it looks like at 200. I practiced with both rifles and out of 30 shots only two were out of the heart lung area and one of those two was right...

    Labradar

I have a chrony F1, CED Mellenium2 and now a Magnetospeed. The last one is far better and works more consistent than the previous two. However it has drawbacks. The Labradar looks like it will work with any firearm you want to use with it. I want one bad.

    Sinclair Ultimate Stainless Case Trimmer

I have one of these trimmers too. Very sweet and wouldn't want to mess around with any other trimmer of this type. It's worth every penny I paid for it. Can't recommend it highly enough. I have two WFT for 223 and 308 for doing hundreds of cases at a sitting and that is a great simple to use for...

my first hunt of pronghorn or any big game.

Thanks fellas. If a big boy comes along I won't turn him down of course but a decent first one will be great. I'm going with a very good friend so I'm looking forward to spending time with him the most. We share a lot in common so it will be enjoyable. I love the wide open country where we'll be...

    Journey toward a pronghorn hunt.

Gene, thanks for the reply. That "typical pattern" I referred to was what I had gotten up until I fired that other target using H1000. Today I shot a 10 shot group that was very consistent using RL25 and 140gr Berger VLD hunting bullet. I was happy with that so I have confidence in that loading...
