My experience with Cameraland mirrors Guy's, and ive bought three or four items from them, scopes and cameras among them. Good folks, with proper service, and they will give excellent advice when you need it.
Speaking as someone who has hunted white-tails with a 300Wby, which is pretty dadgum close to the RUM, I can't find fault with mine. Three white-tails find extreme fault with it, one this past season and two on the final day of the '12-13 season. None of them had extreme meat damage, and two of...
Okay, so above is the whole quote of your post. I clicked the quote button to get that. I'm going to remove the beginning and ending brackets (the [ and ]) which will then make all the code also visible:
quote="NYDAN"]I am sorry but I just can't seem to figure out how to properly use the...
It all depends on what sort of hunting you do. I've compared the 264 to my 270Wby, which is about 100fps faster than your WSM, across the board, and there's no difference using comparable weight for caliber bullets. Figuring in my comparison between the 270Wby and 270WSM, I can tell you you'll...
At one time, Norma listed Nosler as a company for whom they produced brass, on their website. That has since been removed. I am pretty confident some of the brass for Nosler is made by Norma. I also think some is made by Winchester, and some perhaps by Hornady, or perhaps Remington or...
All brass necks are annealed at the factory. It's the only way to get the neck to size and properly tension the bullet. If it were not annealed, the neck would be as hard as the casehead and you'd see a huge difference in sizing and bullet seating, as well as accuracy.
I'll second that. My advice is go with the 130gr E-Tip, use Nosler's data for IMR7828 but use the ssc variant you bought, seat them short, and enjoy the ride!
I generally use 44mm as a max for medium rings for a 1" application. It's rare that anything larger will clear, and some 44s won't clear in medium rings. All depends on how much housing they bring to the table. Based on your dislike for larger objectives as stated earlier, and wanting the...
Betting nobody will be surprised, but BoreTech Eliminator is my solvent of choice. I run three soaked patches, wait 10min, one soaked patch, wait 10min, repeat until soaked patch comes out clean, then patch dry. Whether or not you oil the bore is up to you, but if I do I usually use...
This is absolute in its truth. And not just for younger shooters. Anyone not used to strong reports and recoil will benefit from layering hearing protection.
I prefer Hornady dies. I have used all but Forster. I won't use Redding unless forced. Every set of their dies I've tried has had QC issues. I know people love them, but I won't use them any more unless I have no other option.
To be sure, I'm a 100% advocate of the Hornady tool. I've even worked hard to find which bushing works with my Weatherbys, which is no small task with the double radius shoulder. I'm okay with the concept of turning in slowly, but in my experience, if you have .003" to move, you're going to...
It's been my experience that brass as long as WT's will require more die movement. I believe it is due to the change in sizing depth penetrated due to the contact of the shellholder and die. You are no longer sizing just brass but now having to compress the steel of the die/shellholder (or...
I'm not looking at load data, but if that's a max charge, and you're jammed into the lands, heavy bolt lift is all I need to know that load is over. What other guys get is irrelevant. What your rifle is telling you is to drop back to a start charge and work up. Seating into the lands can...
Just about the only thing I would add is to consider pushing those 165s at less than max velocity for best results. Ish them around 2700fps and I suspect results on hogs out a couple or three hundred yards will be excellent, providing he hits the vitals. I suggest as well he learn hog anatomy...
If you were only below the line, Gerry, I could direct you to a couple of 270Wby Mark Vs in good shape for $699. But alas, that blasted border.
As for the Rem v. 'bee, I'm sort of underwhelmed by the 7mmWby myself. It just doesn't seem to give what I feel it ought to in comparison to the...
