    Reloading 270 WSM

Thank you Mike for all the time you invested in the Quickloads. It’s greatly appreciated. I’m also going to measure the fired headspace and compare it to the headspace of a sized case to see if they size or maybe need annealed.

    Reloading 270 WSM

I'm starting ladders for two loads for this weekend. 1. 270 WSM, 145GR eldx, with RL26 2. Is the 130gr E-Tip, with Staball HD. 3 130gr Partition, with Staball HD I figure the 145gr ELDX will be a nice deer load, and the E-Tip and the Partition will be the anything that walks...

    Reloading 270 WSM

I’ll figure it out. As far as suitable powders on hand go it’s Staball 6.6, IMR4831, IMR7828SSC, RL22, RL23, RL25, RL26, Staball HD. So I should be able to find something it likes. I think the Staball 6.5 will be too fast to use but included it anyway. The shorter fat case seems to give a more...

Speer 168gn Gold Dot in 300 WSM

I really like the 150gr GD’s in my 308 Win. Great deer bullet. They hold together great and are very consistent. Speer did have troubles with pressure spikes to begin with. Then they started coating the GD ‘s with HBN and that salved the problem. That’s why they have the matte finish from the...

    Reloading 270 WSM

Thanks Mike for the input. My RL23 load with Partitions is great. It’s an upper load I think, as it has 66gr of RL23 and a 130gr partition. As far as the other testing I’ve done proves the rifle much more sensetive to powder charges than book manuals say it should be. ….".i do have resistance...

    Reloading 270 WSM

Thanks for the response. My next step was going to get a Forster Go/No Go gauge, because the chamber feels snug when closing. What’s on more set. Lol I have also had to pay close attention to the OAL gauge, because book OAL’s have been long when chambered.

    Reloading 270 WSM

Just asking those that have worked with them. Are they super sensitive to pressure? I know you have to keep an eye on it no matter the round, but my Model 70 in 270 WSM seems extremely sensitive. For example, I’ll be at a mid book load, add .5 grain and them the bolt is very hard to lift. Cases...

    25 WBY RPM Dies

Send a few fired cases to Redding. They will hook you right up. I think dies will be offered if the round builds a following.

    RL19 in 270 Win

Never used RL19 but its in Noslers load data for 140 grain loads.

7mm Rem Mag load data error?

In my opinion Nosler’s load data is always quite generous with their velocities. Try to load to their stated velocity with a chronograph, watching closely for signs of excess pressure.

    QL Data on 7mag 150g

Haven’t tried Ramshot Grand, but bought two 8 pounders of Staball HD. Both are St Marks powders newly released. I’m going to be working with it this spring in a 270 WSM, and a 7mm Rem Mag. Load data suggests it will give good velocity and hopefully be consistent. I just cracked the seal on the...

    Loading .270 without the rifle

In addition, I was getting 3127 fps from a 24” barrel, with 130gr Partitions loaded over 56 grains of Staball 6.5. 130gr E-Tips at 3150 fps loaded over 61 grains of RL26. Work up carefully with E-Tips, they will build pressure very quickly. Lastly, I was getting 3060 fps with 145gr ELDX loaded...

    Loading .270 without the rifle

57 grains of IMR4831 with a 130gr NBT has been the accuracy load for 3 different 270’s I’ve owned through the years. It’s a nice load to factory specs, 3000 fps, not a red line load.

    Loading .270 without the rifle

You have a lot of room to work with from 53.2 grains of N160. About 5 grains worth. What was your velocity with the 130gr Accubond, as it seems like a very light load.

    100,000 PSI?

We are already at the point where most bullets don’t hold up to presently attainable velocities. Everything changes.

    100,000 PSI?

It’s entirely possible that they weren’t designed as being immediately reloadable. If it’s not reloadable the factory controls supply and demand, that equals price and who gets paid. I do have a question. Do die manufacturers have to pay royalties to market and produce dies for a wholly...

    CVA Cascade XT 35 Whelen

It should be a good shooter. Bergara brought Mr. Shilen in to teach their techs how to build a barrel. I’ve heard that the Cascades are good quality rifles. Great find!
