The heart wants what the heart wants, but what’s the reason to not let the optic perform the elevation calculation? I went off the premise that the riflescope calculates range and POI. If I’m wrong my apologies.
I’ll bet we are all using electric hydraulic presses to size and deprime before it’s over. Maybe not for everything, but steel cases seem to be where things are headed. I also wonder if they are using primers specifically suited to the pressure. What the headspace specs are as the case doesn’t...
Before Covid VV powders were what most other powders were compared to. It was the Cadillac of powders. Since Hodgdon and Alliant blew their prices sky high they have kinda been passed over. Hodgdon and Alliant invest so much in advertising that I think they have caused many to forget about VV...
32” of drop at 500 yards is pretty impressive. A 75gr boattail at 3500 fps sure would flatten out a PRS competition range, and lighten the rifles a good bit. I’m thinking a progressive twist barrel would extend barrel life for civilian rifles.
I used to have a 458 WM and ran mostly light loads in it. Looking back at my notes IMR or H4198 will work for you as well. I was running 300 gr. Sierra or Hornady with 50 grains of IMR4198 for a shade over 1800 fps. It was a pussycat in the heavier rifle. If using either 4895 I just stick to...
I’m extremely happy with the X-Caliber barrel they made for me. That rifle will be a hell of a shooter for you.
Edit: It’s also a very handsome rifle. Congrats.
I’m going to put considerable priority into loading Staball HD in 7mm Rem Mag, and 270 WSM this year. Have any of you used or worked with it, and if so what were your impressions? I’ve dabbled with it a little in 7mm Rem Mag and results are encouraging. It may end up being too slow for the 270...
I hate that our muzzleloader season here in Ohio is in early January. Essentially every doe is carrying a fawn at that point. Pulling the trigger carries a little sting with it for me, but I go if I have tags left.
Thank you. It’s an Accurate mold. They group as well as jacketed. Best mold I’ve ever owned. It throws bullets at .460”. I size to .459” with the gas check.
They perform pretty much as a hard cast. They expand a little but penetrate very deep. I’ve never recovered one, but truthfully I haven’t used then on anything big enough to stress the bullet. They have been very accurate for me. To use them in 45-70 you have to use the LEE fcd. Also, from my...
