    IMR7828 SSC in 270 WSM

Finally settled on IMR7827 SSC pushing a 130gr Partition at 3230+ fps for deer this fall. Its not the fastest load I could have came up with but i'd be hard pressed to come up with a load that will be more reliable. It will punch through both shoulders if needed, and will make a Texas heart shot...

    IMR7828 SSC in 270 WSM

Between my 7828 ladder test, and Mikes kindness with Quickload I should have arrived at a load by Thursday if the planets align. The range opens Wednesday so I can fire the ladder for 7828, and RL23, and Ill shoot the results for groups on Thursday.

    IMR7828 SSC in 270 WSM

I've got a ladder loaded with 7828, WLRM primers, and 130gr Partitions for my 270 WSM. Started at 63 grains and stopped it at 67.5. 63 grains isn't the absolute minimum load listed for Hodgdon, but should be plenty safe as a start. I'm curious if any of you have any loads with this powder logged...

    Ramshot Hunter in .243 Win?

Imr4831 works well with 100gr bullets in the 243 Win. I don’t see why Hunter wouldn’t as well.

    Fat dumb and happy

I’m at a loss for words on your find. Exquisite, plain and simple. Congratulations.

Why No Love for The .308 Winchester

I have a Remington 783 in 308 Win that I just put a 26” McGowen barrel, and PT&G bolt head on it. I was only looking to get it on paper but zero’d it and completed load work up with 3 rounds. First 3 rounds down the tube went into one hole, 1” left and 1 1/4” high. at 100 yards. I didn’t have my...

Starting Jump in Tikka T3 in 300WSM

I have a Model 70 in 270 WSM with a magazine length that allows seating depths that touch the rifling. It depends completely on bullet used, and rifle. I have a Remington 308 Win that I can’t get to the rifling with factory DBM dimensions. I also have a TC Venture in 270 Win that has a DBM. Book...

7MM Rem Mag For Elk ?

You just described this one except for barrel length. It’s a X-Caliber 1:8, 26” barrel. I’ve switched to a steel magazine also. It gives a 3.7” OAL and tucks in tighter to the belly of the stock. I don’t like that the polymer magazines are longer, just my personal preference.

    Put together 270win

I still say that for a load you just threw together that’s pretty good. I think you have a shooter! I’ve got a pretty solid load with Staball 6.5 and a 130gr Partition in my 270 Win. Great looking rifle Dan.

Need a dedicated deer blind rifle - Update

As others have said, I’d also go with the 243 Win with whatever bullet you prefer at 95 grains or above. At that range aim for the base of the neck and never track again.

There has to be Washington residents on here....

Criminals could care less. They don’t abide by the laws already in place, much less this additional regulation. All this does is infringe on the rights a law abiding citizens. Liberals don’t give a damn about rights. As long as they are able to force their will on those that disagree, it will...

Do you wear latex gloves while reloading?

With everything I was exposed to in the military I don’t think reloading is going to be what gets me. I’ll wash my hands afterwards but that’s about it.

    Quail Newb

I forgot to mention, if you can take rabbits you should be fine. They tend to disappear faster than quail because they are in the cover already.

    Quail Newb

First, I think you’ll love quail hunting. It’s exciting, they fly like little rockets, and are an exquisite meal. They can be addictive. That said, I’d use the 12. They can be hard to hit and the 12 gauge gives better chances of scoring with a lower chance of wounding birds without recovering...

Completed transition from Alliant to Hodgdon...

I like Alliant powders, but really no more than others. That said, Alliant is making all our minds up for us to move away from them. Price aside availability is essentially gone. Luckily I have enough RL powders left to burn the throat out of the respective rifles I load them in. There are only...

    Frustrating Tikka T3 Magazine Issue

    Bullets for reduced recoil loads

Your friend will be well served with just about any reduced load you come up with for the ‘06. A magnum isn’t required at all. I’d recommend focusing on marksmanship that’s repeatable every time from shooter. It doesn’t come up often but I’ll admit to it. Buck fever is a very real thing...

270 WSM Ladder Test with Hunter and IMR 4831 and 150 Interbonds

On the 8th day God made IMR4831. Just look at my powder locker.
