Made it to the range a little bit ago. 42-43.5 were all MOA or better at 100, the best being 42.5. The max, 43.5, went right at an inch, clocked 3035 FPS and showed 0 signs of pressure. I am going to load a few more rounds from 42.5-43.5 to confirm groups. I only loaded one extra round at 43.5...
Thank you for all of help and suggestions. I just loaded up a few more test loads, working up to 43.5. I will keep an eye out for pressure signs and see if any of these yield equal or better accuracy and higher velocity than my current load. If not, it seems a powder change is in order.

Guy, thank you for the link.
I’m definitely willing to experiment. I may try working a bit higher with the H4350 and see where that takes me. I also have RE19 on hand and maybe some IMR4831. Hopefully I can get the 4350 to fulfill my expectations, but if not I know there are several other solid...
Lately I have been contemplating my current load for my Ruger Hawkeye .243 Win. It is consistently sub-MOA at 100 and the few times I’ve ran it on paper at 200 it’s a hair over 1 MOA, so plenty good for my deer hunting purposes but still some room for improvement. I took a decent 4x4 whitetail...
Bought one in 7-08 about a month ago. It's consistent 1" or better at 100 with 140 core lokts. I got some test loads done with 120 btips last weekend but haven't had a chance to shoot em yet. So far I'm impressed with it.

I just bought my girl friend a ruger American full size in 7-08. She said it fit at the store but once the scope was mounted the eye relief showed its a little long. I have a compact stock on the way for it so we can put something together that fits a little better. I like the idea of having the...
I usually use my Remington 1187, a carlsons extra full, and the cheap Winchester 3" 1 7/8 oz #5. Last year I used my bow but haven't decided on my weapon of choice for this year.

It was about 40 degrees yesterday while I was shooting so probably with in 10-15 degrees of typical hunting conditions. Thank you for the heads up, that's something I will definitely keep an eye on.

Thanks guy! That was the plan. Have a bullet and load that would easily handle anything in North America I want to hunt.

Well I finally bought my magneto speed and tried it out today. This load is doing 2787 with an ES of 27. With a goal of 2800 Im pretty happy with where I'm at.

I ran this load over the magneto speed today and got an average of 2780 and an ES of 38. So there's quite a bit of room to go up but I'm going to leave it as is for now.

I didn't see any pressure signs when I worked up to 42. The accuracy with the higher charges seemed to open up, although I didn't test them at any other seating depths. Sub moa at 2900 would be plenty of medicine for Washington whitetails. I will run them over the chrono when I get it and see...
I have not. I'm waiting on the tax return so I can buy a magneto speed. Once that happens I will be checking all my loads

Lately I've been developing a load for my Ruger Hawkeye in .243. I had a solid load with 85 TSX for this rifle that I have killed 4 or so deer with in the past but decided to give the 95 ballistic tip a try. My first range session had me testing increasing charges of h4350. I had a couple solid...
I found these two tipped triple shocks in the grass behind my 100 yard target. From my bench to 100 is slightly downhill so these bullets went through two 1/2" sheets of plywood and then impacted the ground behind the target. I found them about 40 yards past the 100 board so I'm assuming they...
