I generally buy it by the 8# jug. If that is not available I get 5 or 6 1#'s. I never buy just 1# of anything anymore in the popular powders because I want time to find more when I have found good loads.
They might shoot to the same POI and the same powder charge might work OK. The only way to know is load them up and try them.
I have used several different E-Tips and have not had much luck with getting the same POI when trying C&P bullets. The same powder charge should be OK as the mono...
I have found that 150's like Varget or R-17 in my 300's. I use Fed 215 and CCI 250 equally with these powders. With 165's R-17 has been my go to powder but will be trying R-16 this winter for both weights.
If you want more fps than your 7-08 will give and going to a long action sounds like you want a 280 Rem or 280AI. Nothing gained with the 7-08 and playing with bullet seating length.
Ramshot Hunter is a powder that can sometimes give better performance with a magnum primer. I always do a dual work up. Also I get better accuracy at or near the Max with this powder.
I have loaded the 225 to 2900 with Hunter, Superformance, R-19, H4350 and IMR 4350. This was from a Tikka T-3 lite SS. Bullets were Nosler PT, Hornady IB, Barnes TSX and Sierra pro hunter. My current hunting load is Hunter and the 225 Hornady IB.
Sorry no info on the TTSX as I have way to...
I would say if the primer pockets are good and they are do not have the thinning separation ring I would anneal them and keep shooting.
I have some 300 SAUM cases at 10+ loadings that are still an use. I annealed them after 5 loadings.
I am looking at doing a hunt over bait in the spring of 2020. My question for you that have done this is what questions I need to ask the outfitter before booking. This will be the first hunt of any type over bait any and all advice welcome.
My take is Retumbo is to slow for 100gr. bullets. H or IMR 4831 and 4350 are good choices as well as R-19, R-22. I will add I have never used 780 in anything but should work with 100 gr. bullets also.
I have used H4831 and 100 Nosler BT's. I worked up to 69 gr. with WLRM primer in WW case and had ~ 1" 4 shot groups. I might give 120 gr. Sierra or Speer bullets a try. Maybe 125 Partition with H100 or IMR 7828 both worked for me but the H1000 was better.
I shot some deer and Antelope with...
I would hunt every couple of years for a good bull and if I wanted a monster I would spend the bucks for one of the big $ hunts on private in NM or Reservations. Or maybe Colorado ranching for wildlife hunts.
Good luck and good hunting whatever you choose.
Whats wrong with doing a cow elk hunt. Have done it several times and enjoyed it as much as bull hunting. But then I just like being in elk country and love the meat...
And you can keep your points.
