Nosler vs Hodgdon load data, WAY different

Oh man I love these chrony's!! Well done, having one they certainly make range days very fulfilling. I had a hard time making the decision but then once I did the "buy once-cry once" decision there's been no looking back. I get a lot of onlookers at the range; once they see them in action they...

Nosler vs Hodgdon load data, WAY different

These velocities the manufacturers publish...I rarely take note of them to much of a degree. More often than not, they are using test barrels that are premium and long. Not typically an over the counter, affordable 22" variety. I will look at their data to see out of the list of powders which...

Nosler vs Hodgdon load data, WAY different

I 100% agree with you...I too have played with that .270 load and my start charge was 300fps or more slower than theirs! Granted I am at sea level below freezing temps and it was very dense air, but nowhere close.

Nosler vs Hodgdon load data, WAY different

Good points. Both 24" barrels 1:8" different primers and brass...and Hodgdon stops at 60K like you mentioned. But wow...of all the differences I have seen between sources, this one is the king lol.

Nosler vs Hodgdon load data, WAY different

Hi there, It's nothing new, the variations in load data between Nosler and the manuals (editions), Hodgdon site, bullet manufacturers, etc... Most of the group know how to navigate the waters of such, find a good place to start and then slowly start working your way up, safely. However, last...

You are corrrect unfortunately. Canada is so overtly progressive we are going backwards...yet, strangely, there is no law against me bringing primers into the country. Perfectly legal. Canada customs wouldn't have a concern at all. But USA has them as controlled ITAR classified item...they are...

    Please Read Before Reloading!

Just so you know, no hard feelings. :) I have always had a soft spot for my neighbors to the south. The whole world seems to be on edge...I'll just steer well clear of Gen Z here in my home country and pray for a time in the future and maybe we can at least find some center on the pendulum to...

Pre-'64 Model 70 from 2008-post production (FN) firing pin spring

Really appreciate your input, thank you! Wolff is a no fit. Pre-2008 only. Tubb..I can't get in touch with them...I am out of country so they obviously have an international call filter for the phone. They have not replied to my email. I have a relative in the lower 48 who will likely have to...

    Please Read Before Reloading!

Unfortunately for me, I am in Canada. The complex process of ITAR regulations is such that there is no simple way for them to make it right. A couple years ago I ran through three boxes of Nosler brass that were so messed up (tooling marks on the neck and shoulder) and one box had 13 shoulders...

    Please Read Before Reloading!

I have had bad luck with Winchester primers this past year.. Three in the last year. Mellow loads. Cut the face of my Tikka real bad. Recent one in my other rifle pinholed but didn't cut the face.

Pre-'64 Model 70 from 2008-post production (FN) firing pin spring

Good day all, I may be having issues with soft strikes caused by a weak spring. I have a thread going in the reloading section after noticing some soft strikes on new brass and also, noticing from Google research that this is not a new problem for some post 2008 production Model 70's. After much...

Anyone have load recipe for fire forming 264 Win Mag with faster powder?

Maybe I have a weak spring? AI search on Google reports Model 70 post-production since 2020 has had some issues. Maybe the "new" belt headspace is just enough to be weak for the strike? For now I will disassemble the bolt and clean it. I would buy a new firing pin spring, but I am in Canada and...

Anyone have load recipe for fire forming 264 Win Mag with faster powder?

Hi thanks, no it was not primed brass. Previous owner had two bags of Winchester unprimed brass and made hand loads from them. I disassembled some of the loads for verification to ensure they were safe. His charges were accurate and spot on. His seating depths were consistent to 0.001", so I...

Anyone have load recipe for fire forming 264 Win Mag with faster powder?

The Peterson brass was what got me checking this out in the first place. I knew the replies would be about head spacing on the belt, but could someone then explain how come the brass that mis fires is ONLY the brass that has that is virgin insanely short? Help me out please…false shoulder, neck...

Anyone have load recipe for fire forming 264 Win Mag with faster powder?

whoops!!!...never mind lol, I looked everywhere on the internet except...the Nosler load data assuming it would not be in there lol. Apparentlly it is 47.0 - 51.0 grains of IMR4064. That is embarrassing, sorry about that. I just assumed there wouldn't be a load with a really fast powder, for a...

Anyone have load recipe for fire forming 264 Win Mag with faster powder?

Hello everyone, I have a 264 Win Mag in Model 70 I purchased last summer, which came with a whole bunch of new unfired brass, factory ammunition and previous owner's hand loads. Looking for safe recipe for firing a 140 grain Sierra SBT to fire form new Winchester brass. Last fall I was...
