I got word from Nosler earlier this year that they would be making a run of the 225 PT this year. Well they must have been telling the truth because I saw some pop up earlier this week but they were gone in less than 24hrs. Keep an eye out and be ready to buy them quick!
Those are great results! I have some of the 180s I’ll have to load some up and see how they do. Might be a good choice for blacktail this fall. What is your load of you don’t mind me asking?
Well that was short lived. I should’ve spent hundreds more on bullets because they were all gone in less than 24hrs now I’m feeling like I should’ve bought more.
I shot some of the 225 sierras into water jugs before my bear hunt and wasn’t really impressed with expansion to be honest. I was skeptical of using them on my bear hunt but they definitely worked well in flesh compared to water jugs. But that lead core is a lot tougher than you’d think!
I used a 225 Sierra game king on a 180lb bear this spring. My hand load pushes that bullet at about 2580fps from my Hawkeye in .358 Winchester. I was very pleased with the performance. I shot the bear broadside behind the shoulder at about 70 yards. Full pass through and about a 50 cent piece...

308 win

243 win
In that order.
I have more kills with 243 and 308 than all the others but have been fascinated with the performance of the 338 and 358 the past few years. Wish I’d known about them sooner. The bigger frontal area on those particular calibers...
Could someone please do me a solid and run a load through quick load for me?

Dr. Mike, could I borrow your expertise one more time please? I’m working on doing some 225 Nosler partition water jug tests and would like to do the testing with reduced loads to simulate lower velocity impacts at 300 yards or so (1800fps) Is there any way you could run the same components for...
I appreciate the insight. I have a lot more standard primers than I do magnum primers so that’s great.
I had another load I was using CCI 250 magnum primers with in this rifle. if I were to use the same load, just going with a standard primer in place of it, will I have to work up in charge...
Thank you very much Dr. Mike. I was doing a lot of reading and saw that others were using magnum primers for better ignition with ball powders. I will start with 200s and work up first. Thank you again!
Hi I was hoping someone could help me out and run a load on quick load for me. I’m curious about the 225 partition with ramshot tac powder. Hornady case and cci250 primer. Thank you very much in advance.

I used the ol tikka 338 federal. Didn’t have time to put a load together this year so I ended up using the factory 200 grain federal fusion. I put 3 behind his shoulder to make sure he went down where he stood. 1 pass through, one recovered on the off side hide and couldn’t find the third.
Thank you very much! I saw him and two rag horns the day before the opener a long ways off while I was scouting. I pulled out of the area in hopes to not disturb him and see him first thing in the morning. I woke up at 2am and got my butt up there. Hiked in close enough and waited for the fog...
