That is a great photo ‘Bird! Yeah I REALLY hate to sell this gun but life as it so often does, has taken this from me too. Hopefully I can sell a few guns and get everything back on the damned rails.
Pre-64 Model 70 FS
It is with heavy heart I post this listing. Our family has had more than its share of financial surprises lately. So several of my guns are going to have to go.
Up for sale is this Winchester Model 70 pre-64 in .30-06 Springfield. I have only had it since April of this...
I want to sell it all as a package. This needs to go to a .270 aficionado!
110 grain Sierra (100)
130 grain Speer (138)
150 grain Sierra (163)
170 grain Speer (100)
Would sell them all for $140 shipped. Paypal f/f preferred. Not interested in trades.

Blkram, I have to hand it to you brother, these are great thread topics and fun!

Well I had planned to give the .35 Whelen a spin. Other more important things have arisen making it necessary to sell a few guns, the .35 included.
This year for elk, I am planning to use Golden Ticket. A pre-64 Model 70 .30-06 that I built for use in crappy weather. It shoots great!
The load...
I was 13 and very gangly. The Savage 99 EG .300 had a steel buttplate which seemed much too friendly with my bony shoulder. Still, despite missing more bucks than I care to admit, on the last day I got a little 2x3 Mule Deer buck at about 75 yards. The factory loaded 150 grain Silvertip bullet...
That’s darn good shooting Jorey. Every time I get an itch to build a .22 Creed, I remember the under appreciated .223 and what its capable of with a fast-twist barrel and heavy bullets. It may be the ultimate cartridge when it comes to popularity, ubiquity of both guns and ammo as well as...
Can’t go wrong with a .30-06!
Having a hard time imagining what a 6.5 PRC or .300 WSM will do that your 7mm Rem Mag wouldn’t. The 6.5 PRC will kick less. The .300 will shoot heavier bullets. Hmm. Flip a coin. Or get one of each!
For sale:
Starline Brass (virgin) .30-06 Springfield 100 pieces: $55 shipped
Nosler Accubond .308 165 grain 2nds, 380 count: $225 shipped

Not interested in trades, cross posted on the Fire and RFC.

I would load a 240 grain Hornady JHP to whatever shot the best and go to town! I might also see where the easiest to find factory 240 grain stuff shot in correlation with your handloads just in case.
I always wanted one of those Ruger M96’s, they look like a scaled down Savage 99!
