I'm not planning on anything at the moment but there are a few new interesting left hand rifles out this year. The CVA bolt gun is now coming in a lefty and Savage has a couple of new variants that are intriguing.
What I really would like to see is Weatherby offering an affordable LH option...
Pretty crazy that the 95 gr VLD shot so bad not sure what to make of it since everything else shoots lights out. With a 0.7" group at 300 yards you definitely have a great load, awesome group! The 87 gr V MAX will an excellent predator load for you.
A Tikka 6.5x55 uses the exact same 1 in 8 twist barrel that they use in the 6.5 Creedmoor, 260 Rem or 6.5 PRC. The accuracy potential is exactly the same with any of them. I have loaded the 143 gr ELD-X in ours and it will handle any other high BC bullet that the others will handle.
American...
Certainly a step above the 6.5 Creedmoor in performance with its bigger case capacity. My wife's Tikka is a 6.5x55, lots of room in the magazine too. Great brass available as well, you'll love it!
An interesting mix of old and new. I'm not a fan of the typical chassis type stock but see why they are popular with all the adjustability. Guess I'm becoming an old Fudd lol. The only one I like is the MDT Hunt 26 folding stock.
This one they call a hybrid stock and blends some of the old...
On YouTube I've seen some videos where guys are having success with the 165 gr ABLR at higher elevations in both the 270 Win and WSM. It will be borderline but might work for you.
FWIW I tried the 165 gr ABLR factory load in my 6.8 Western and they didn't group well. Even though they were...
Those left hand 325 WSM's are hard to find, still kicking myself for getting rid of mine years ago. Lots of great bullets out there for the round. Congratulations on a great find!
I can't take credit for noticing this, I saw it somewhere else, but it's hard to believe that 3 women named Whoopi, Joy and Sunny could be some of the most miserable people on the planet.
BTW Whoopi Goldberg your real name is Caryn Johnson isn't that cultural appropriation? Thought that was...
Yes they were. I was able to use a drop tube and tap the case so it settled and also seat the bullet out father. Compression wasn't too bad loaded like that.
The 225 gr data came out before the 200 gr AB was introduced. In my old Sako 35 Whelen I ran the 225 gr Accubond with 60 gr Varget for 2763 fps I believe. It was safe in my gun. With my present Whelen I tried the 200 gr Accubond with Varget as well and used up to 61 gr. That was before the 200...
Really beautiful rifle in a really cool round. You did very well with this one. Love the looks of a well done laminate rifle, I bet this will shoot lights out for you.
Welcome to the forum. Sure sounds like a well thought out plan. Nothing wrong with the 338-06 AI for all around use. Consider some of the light mono bullets too like the Barnes 185 TTSX or something similar from other companies. 180 gr Accubond combined with a similar weight mono would handle...
@Guy Miner since you are also fixed power scope fan maybe you and Gavin could do a review on this scope. I see he has reviewed Athlon in the past and this one would be right up your alley. Would be awesome on your 308, 6.5 Creed, 25-06 or even one of the varmint rigs.
