    R700 223 Wylde @ 1040 yards

Took the R700 223 Wylde with 80.5g Bergers out again this evening. Shot 10 rounds at 1040 yards at the 20" plate. CB was just over the top, the next 9 is what you see. Wind was pretty light at 1-2mph and consistent, but every now and again it would pick up just a tad. 8 of the 10 went into...

    M70 coyote light 243

I'll be picking one of these up in a month or two. My cousin is selling it to me for a price I can't refuse. No real use for it, but I have a couple ideas anyway...I already have 3 LR rifles that weigh 16-17#. A 223, 6 Creed, 7-300 Win mag. So my thought was to make this a lighter alternative to...

    Universal reloading manual

I like having and using both to cross reference. Quite a few of my best loads have not came from a book, rather from my own testing/curiousity or working around someone else's pet load, of course after cross referencing. The hodgon manual is pretty decent for a quick do all on most of the...

    .223 Coyote Load?

60g vmax would be a good one to try.

    A little too small

I'm not so sure that fence is adequate for such a beast!

    Powder consistency with Dillon 550B

.1g seems really good to me for thrown charges from a progressive. I'd be more than happy with it.

    223 @ 1040

A nice accurate bolt action 22 LR is also a great cheap training tool. I shoot a lot through my CZ457 out to 300, and occasionally 4-500. Keeps me sharp with bench manners and breathing/follow through technique. Can't go wrong with a Tikka. I would opt for one in an 8 twist so you can shoot...

    223 @ 1040

It's an 8 twist. I only intended to shoot 75-80g bullets through it, and the occasional 53 vmax for splat factor. Since I'd be pushing the 75-80s around the 3K fps area with the 28" Bartlein, I figured an 8 twist would be more than adequate. Should've still probably went 7.5 but too late now...

Need 308 Norma Mag sizing die

$20 RCBS stuck case remover is all you need. I stuck a 223 case in my redding die a few months back. Got it out in 5 minutes with no harm to the die.

    223 @ 1040

Wanted to find a spot to shoot 1K at the range just a couple miles from my house. Typically can only get out to 500. I played around with onx maps and line distance and came up with a spot that would allow 1040 or so. Time to load the 4Runner up with the gear and head down the road. I got to the...

    New 6BR chambering test

That'll do! 6 BRs are just the easy button. I was always under the impression that a total neck clearance of up to .008" was ok. I think my 223 and 6 Creed are around .006" and my 7-300 around .004" I haven't seen any issues with either.

    Brux Barrels

Brux makes a nice barrel. I've got one on my 6 Creed and have no complaints.

    7/08 and 45-70 range session

That's the best group I've fired with that 7/08 load. It's never been over .75" It is a little warm though, so I'd definitely work up to it. But that's where this rifle seems to likes it. I've been thinking about trying the 150g ELDX in it with H4350. I have two 8# jugs of H4350 and only 2# of...

    7/08 and 45-70 range session

Finally got a decent break from the heat and wind this morning so loaded up the 4Runner and took the wife's Kimber 7/08 with a freshly mounted Vari X III 6.5-20x Leupold and the new CVA 45-70 with a fresh DNZ mount and a Burris Fullfield E1 4-14x. Ammo for the 7/08 was handloaded 150g NBTs over...

    Primers

Good to see prices coming back down on primers. I was able to snag a few bricks of CCI400s at bimart for $60/brick and Rem 7.5s for $75/brick. Haven't seen those prices in a long time. Still spendy, but beats $100+

    Kimber 7/08

I like it! Can't shoot what you can't see! Got a box of 160g TMKs I was thinking about loading up and seeing what they can do for some LR steel.

    Kimber 7/08

Thanks Jim! If we didn't hunt such wide open spaces for deer and elk, the 2.5-8x would be the obvious choice, I agree 100%. I went back and forth between the 3.5-10x, 4.5-14x and the 6.5-20x for a few days. I've always been a fan of the 20x variables out here, with 6x still being low enough for...

    Kimber 7/08

It's been a while since I've shot, or done anything with the wife's Kimber lightweight 7/08. Bought this for her as an all around rifle for deer and elk about 8 years ago. Nathan added one of his 4 port brakes to tame the recoil from a 7# scoped rifle. At the time just to get her started I threw...

    Here kitty kitty

That is a massive Tom! They're still the only animal in the woods that scare me...I've ever only seen a glimpse of one on a ridge before sunrise up N Fork Umatilla. I'm sure many more have seen me!

Technical question regarding temperature and powders.

Out to normal hunting ranges, I wouldn't even worry about it. The difference is negligible on big game.
