Got the Burris 4-14x mounted up in some leupold rings. If I was a betting man, I'd say the factory picatinny rail on this is going to be the weak link. It's pretty cheesy, and to be honest these Leupold rings aren't a whole lot better...I got everything degreased and torqued to specs, so we'll...
I would go 7/08 since I'm a big fan of 7mms. They're accurate, easy on the shoulder, and have high BCs and SDs which all translates to good things downrange on targets and big game. Why I got the wife one, so I could play with it haha.
Does anyone know for sure know what levels you can load these up to? It doesn't specify in the manual. However, my best guess and from research is that it should be able to handle the Ruger #1 loads. The reason I say that is because they chamber these in 35 Whelan. If I recall the 35 Whelan can...
I don't have one, but a good buddy of mine has one for PRS. Built off an Aero Solus with a 26" Krieger and it will put 10 shots in the same hole with 105 Hybrids at almost 3K fps.
Almost makes me want to get rid of my 6 CM...
Went to the Bi-Mart this morning and wandered over to the sporting goods section for a bit. Came home with a nice little CVA Scout in 45-70. It has a 25" barrel with a brake. The wife asked what in the world do you need that for, elephants? I got a good laugh out of that. I've always liked the...
That's great! Good luck on the speed goat! Awesome country and some really nice animals down there if you put the time in. We hunt Owyhee which is just north of that. It's one of my favorite places to be and hunt. Truly out in the middle of nowhere.
I tried them in about 10 different rifles when they first came out and never got any of them to shoot consistently. I thought I was doing something wrong until I started reading all the reports of others about the accuracy inconsistencies.
Great LR bullet though, if your rifle will shoot them!
I was talking to my dad a couple weeks ago and he said he was thinking about selling his BAR 22. I said for what?! He says I want a 10/22...I said ok, I'll buy the BAR from you then. This was the rifle I learned to shoot with at 4 years old. I can still remember seeing the mud fly along side the...
My smith charges $150 to thread/chamber/crown/ with a turn around time of 1, 2 days at max. With the price of a Bartlein/BRUX/Krieger, it runs around $600. Add $75 if you need the muzzle threaded for a brake/suppressor.
The SST is a pretty good bullet for as cheap as they are. They typically hold up quite well in my testing.
I'll probably go to the 7mm 154g SST in the wife's Kimber 7/08 after the 150g NBTs are gone.
I always thought some speed helped, causing massive hydrastic shock. I try to keep my hunting loads around that 3K+ fps area. Just seems to kill better and faster than the slower rounds.
I typically aim for high shoulders on big game so they drop on the spot. I don't like tracking things...
Not often you hear of guys having issues with a 25/06. I've had several over the years and they were always very accurate and easy to tune with a wide range of cases, primers, bullets, and powder.
Since the rifle is capable of shooting under MOA with factory ammo, this leads me to think it...
I've had the Garmin almost a year now, but have only used it the last couple months. It's worked flawless on everything from my 22 cal springer airgun at 750fps, to standard velocity 22 LRs at 1000-1100fps, 22 and 9mm pistols, and a good variety of centerfire rifles. It hasn't dropped 1 shot for...
