Based on this article I tried Hunter powder. 59 grains under a 180 Partition was outstanding, with velocity close to 2850 from my Tikka. This load has put elk in the freezer for me. I named the load Hammer.
If your brother wants the exact...
52 grains and a 162 eldx got me bright, shiny ejector marks and 2730 FPS from my Tikka. Easy bolt lift, though.
I get 2790 with the 150 eldx using 46.2 grains of Big Game. Doing the math, there’s very little difference until I get past 700 yards, which is waaaaay beyond my limit.

Big Game. Get some and use a magnum primer. I get 2890 FPS with 140 Partitions and 2870 with 140 AccuBonds. Precision I won’t post for fear of being called a liar.
So I see Nosler has a new 7mm Accubond bullet in 150 grains. I’m thinking about it paired with Reloader 26 at close to 3200 fps out on a 24.3” Tikka.
Anyone have load data for this combo?

I have specific experience with this topic, as I introduced my son to hunting with a 7mm-08. In fact, it was the primary driver for my foray into reloading. I wanted a cartridge he could grow up with, that could handle smallish blacktails up to elk.
I started him with the 120 BT and Varget at...
My primary hunting rifles are all Tikkas (T3 Lite stainless or Superlite, no T3x). 7mm Rem Mag and 7mm-08. The Mag shoots a 162 eldx at just under 3k, the Mighty -08 shoots a 150 eldx at 2790.
If I want sedate I’ll shoot the Mighty -08. It’s sedate enough to kill a 5x6 bull at over 400...
7mm Rem Mag, 162 eldx started at 3k, 4 elk, 100-400 yards, one shot each. Unremarkable blood shot, farthest recovery was 90 feet.
A bunch of bucks and another bull, 7mm-08, 150 eldx, 100-400 yards, one shot each. Unremarkable blood shot, farthest recovery was 60 feet.
I’m a believer.
When I started experimenting with the 150 eldx I bought a long action bolt stop for my -08 so I could load long. Using a .30-06 length magazine and the long bolt stop I developed a great load, and it cycles like butter.
