    Sierra load info

Not legal here in Australia either, mostly because we have fairly strict bio tracking laws around meat etc for the prevention of disease being spread. Can’t sell fish either unless you’re a licensed, professional fisherman.

    recovered 120 gr BTip

7mm08 and 120nbt is such an underrated combo. Good shooting

    QL request… 6.5x55

My son shot a nice red deer doe with the 6.5x55 with a 129sst a couple of weeks back. We needed a meat for the freezer and this mature deer was perfect. The shot was angling up and the bullet placement was a little high, perfect if on flat ground but the angle meant ideally he should have shot...

    140gr NBT 7mmMag

Great thing about that load is you can swap out the nbt for the accubond should you need a little more penetration.

    140gr Hornady Monoflex

The FTX in the 3030 is indeed a good thing. It is my go to in that cartridge, but I have to say the performance of that bullet above gets a man thinking. Unless you’re eating up to the bullet hole, I think you’re pretty fine and less of an issue with bullets that retain their weight.

    Federal’s 7mm Backcountry

It (280ai) is probably my favourite cartridge of the many I own...but I have to whisper it so the others don't hear ;)

    Federal’s 7mm Backcountry

I read this and found it to answer a lot of the questions. Hope it helps. https://www.outdoorlife.com/guns/federal-7mm-backcountry-review/

    Federal’s 7mm Backcountry

Assuming that brass does become an obsolete case material, the sale of muzzle brakes will go through the roof. More velocity means more recoil…or all of a sudden the 260rem starts performing like a 6.5PRC and how we think about cartridges changes too. I suspect the race for the fastest and...

    Federal’s 7mm Backcountry

It will take a lot to dethrone the media around the 7mmPRC. 7mm cartridges are pretty common now with just about every scenario covered. Hard to see it taking off and sticking.

Adding a 260 Remington to the safe

If you can’t get it done with a 125grain partition or 130 accubond, you need something bigger than a 6.5 imho. Not too many things go far with a well placed bullet of either of those above at sensible distances.

    What did Santa bring you?

Two packets of Norma 300 Rum cases, 1 Packet of Norma 7mm08 brass with matching sierra 140 tipped gamekings, mtm boxes for all, some game fishing lures and a heavy tackle harness. Santa was good to me this year 😀 Almost forgot, a rear bag rest for hunting to throw in my backpack.

Adding a 260 Remington to the safe

I had to read that twice to make sure I got it right the first time. My brain kept screaming “wtf”.

Heavy powder crunch with H1000 / 300 Win Mag

Just make sure your barrel is well scrubbed before you start. They definitely like a clean barrel to shoot accurately, more so than your standard cup and core bullets which seem to have greater tolerance through being softer.

Heavy powder crunch with H1000 / 300 Win Mag

H4350 turned around my lousy relationship with the 300wm to being one of my favourites. Admittedly this was with the 180nbt and accubond. I tried H1000 and 4813sc for okay groups, but just wasn’t doing it for me. H4350 was like I finally unlocked the rifles secret.

Adding a 260 Remington to the safe

I will second the advice on the 260rem and the 120nbt, a fantastic bullet. Generally speaking, varget for 100 grain bullets, H4350 for 120’s and h4831sc for the heavier 140’s and beyond. Welcome to the forum and I look forward to hearing how this cool little cartridge works out for you.

    Book vs. Real World

I have played with the 338wm for quite a while and remember being a little confused when I first started as Alliant’s load data seemed very high to everyone else for 225 grain bullets. I will again find myself in load experimentation soon as I will run out of RL19 which has been my go to. I...

    Christmas Eve

It is Christmas Eve here in Australia. I would just like to wish you all a Merry Christmas, a safe and prosperous new year and to thank you for your help and insights when I have needed it . May Santa be kind to you and Mrs Claus be both generous and understanding. Have a great one all.

Rookie question, why the variance in data for same weight bullet?

All barrels aren’t created equal and depending on the cartridge, some gain more from extra length. I know from my own experience, sometimes playing with a cartridge using similar weight projectiles and different powders creates a better understanding of how things work. Some really good advice...

QL help for the 7mmRM Please

Limited by magazine length. I actually converted a Mauser 98 when I was 19 to 7mmRM, that was over 30 years ago. It may well be that the barrel has finally reached its end of life too, but it still shoots moa with 150nbt’s, so still a very handy rifle.
