I have had a 30-06 for quite a while so I already was familiar 30 caliber. However to answer your question, I like the 308 more for some odd reason. 30-06 outperforms 308 but something about the 308 is just endearing to me.
I have only had two 308's. One was a Ruger American I bought for 150 at pawn shop and later sold to make room in the safe. So after I got a bigger safe (I know excellent problem solving skills) I decided I needed to have another 308 since I had all the reloading components. I bought a cheap...
If I shoot the barrel out on this Tikka I will re-barrel it with a 26" barrel. This rifle shoots extremely accurate just a bit slower than most 7 mags. I know the old saying holds true "It doesn't matter how fast you miss" but I like to get magnum speeds out of a magnum caliber.
I have tried Grand with my Tikka 7MM Rem Mag. I have not gotten the speeds you have but I have gotten the best velocity I have ever gotten out of my rifle. My tikka only has a 24 inch tube so I typically do not get the same velocities as others but I am very impressed with the speed and accuracy...
Yes Brian I have tried Magpro and gotten some great accuracy. The velocities have not been been as high in my rifle as I would have liked but great accuracy.
I may try to load 3 rounds 1 grain below max with Magpro and 3 rounds 1 grain below max with Grand and see how they compare.
I had posted a while back about some issues with my magnetospeed chrono. Never could get it right so i went with the Garmin. That thing is SWEET! Love the simplicity and the bluetooth feature to send info to the phone.
The rifle I shot tonight was a Tikka T3X in 7 Rem mag. I recently had this...
The more I read about the Garmin the more I like it!!
i will try to change the spacing block and see if I have any luck managing to use the magnetospeed.
I have a magnetospeed sporter chronograph. When shooting today I got a bayo sen2 reading on the display. Has anyone ever had this happen and what was your solution?
So my brother picked up a Browning X bolt with a recoil hawg brake in 7mmPRC. He was sighting it in today and I had to give it a try. He was shooting Hornady outfitter 160gr CX ammo. I pulled the trigger on the rifle and I swear the recoil felt like a a hot 6.5 creedmoor load. I expected a lot...
I am shooting a Browning X bolt 22 inch tube
Lapua brass CCI BR2 primer.
120 gr Barnes TTSX
I am wanting to shoot Staball 6.5 and also Reloader 16.
I have shot an initial load with both and had good looking results. Wanting to see quickload info so I have a little info on how far I can go...
I have plenty of 160gr Speer BTSP and 162gr ELD-X bullets that I am going to use. Going to try some initial loads with both and see which one looks better in the accuracy department and go from there.
Brian I am currently starting to work up a load using Magpro and the 7 Rem Mag myself. My reasoning is basically the same as yours, Magpro availability.
