In talking to the technician at Federal's Custom Ammunition Shop a while ago, he indicated that Federal may not make the 7mm 170 gr TA bullet available as a component. They may only load in the ammunition. Hope this does not turn out to be true!
I am still waiting to find some of the 155 gr TA...
Hate to admit, but I haven't pulled the AI out of the safe for a while, and I still need to finalize a load in it with the 110 gr AB,
But I do have load data for both Re-26 and H-4350 to try (I have both powders in stock). Max loads in my LH Rem 700 and 24" barrel according to QuickLoad suggest...
Welcome to the forum.
My 7MM PRC rifle is the LH Fierce Carbon Rogue with 24" barrel. We'll see how she likes the Fusion Tipped.
What velocity are you getting out of your 22" barrel?
My rifle shoots the Federal 170 gr Terminal Ascent ammo into .708" 3 shot groups @ 100 yards, at 2920 fps with...
Add me to the list for a 0.257" 120-130 gr BT, AB or ABLR.
Still wishing for a 0.410 240 or 265 gr JHP for the 41 Rem Mag.
A 0.400" 200-220 gr bullet for the 10MM Auto for Marlin's new 1894 Trapper would be great too!
.416 350 gr AB's
.358 220 gr FP Partitions
.375 220 gr FP Partitions
Did you see any difference between the 115 gr BT and Partitions in your No.1?
Curious to see of the shorter Partition will perform better in my Bob than the BT.
The factory Nosler ammo with the 110 gr AB did shoot well; 0.582" 3 shot group at 100 yards at 2989 fps from the 22" Shilen 1:10 twist...
We are blessed that generation gave so much, that most take for granted today. I know that I am eternally grateful!
Despite the many challenges that we face today, most of of us are extremely lucky that we have not had to endure what they endured during the Depression and two World Wars.
You got me curious...
SAAMI's specs for the 250 Savage is 45,000 CUP, which is 50,318 psi.
QuickLoad suggests that max in a 22" barrel (sorry, I do not recall your rifle's barrel length) with the 100 gr BT, would be 35.7 gr of H380, producing 2848 fps and 1800 ft lbs of energy.
Although on...
If I recall correctly, DrMike's Featherweight in 280 Rem was slow...in the 100's of fps slow. It finally came around after 400 rounds (???).
He can comment and verify the actual numbers.
My 6.5 PRC is a funny performer, with its 24" Wilson carbon fibre 1:8 twist barrel; in 7 of the factory...

My Marlin 1894 Trapper in 10MM arrived!
Really like the dark pepper laminated stock.
Weighs 6 lbs 6 oz as is.
Looking forward to shooting it when it gets warmer in the spring and we can get some new target stands out on the range for 25 and 75 yards to try it out alongside the Kimber, and use...
Every now and then, you may run into a barrel that performs with higher velocities (or slower), than the norm, and that can account for the variance between various rifles' performance. As you stated, length will play into it, but isn't always the only answer.
For example my 7MM STW's 24"...
Well done Guy!😎
I'll be trying it too, come warmer weather!
Hope the NMBH 41 Rem Mag and Winchester 240 gr Platinum Tip ammo won't give me control issues with their additional recoil... 🤔
Good to know!
I am pretty good shape, so won't be worried about trying to stock up for a while. I should be pretty good until things level out in 2028!?!?
I'll just make sure I don't go crazy shooting up more than I need to for a while.
Only reloading components that I'll be on the look out for...
If all goes well, and the bullet is placed accurately, they will all kill an elk.
But as stated above, elk are NOT deer, and require a bullet that will perform properly even when the shot does not go well, and the bullet is not placed as accurately as planned or desired.
For this, the 180 gr...
While I have yet to try them, I have load data for 100 gr bullets (BTs and SGKs) to try with Big Game and Hunter, as well as N150, 160 and 550. Have been using the Winchester, Hornady, and HSM 100 gr ammo to date in the various rifles I have/have had in this chambering. my wife is using the...
Sounds like an interesting build.
Looking forward to your results and aoudad adventure story.
You don't often hear of someone building a 35 Whelen for an sheep/goat hunt...what length of barrel? And which bullet do you plan on using for it?
(With their reputation for being tough, I cannot fault...
Not sure how temperature stable MagPro is, but DrMike always stated that this was the powder to use in the 7mm Rem Mag...and a quick online search provided two different answers! Yes and No.(???)
And he may have tried it with the 150 gr ABLR...I never did, as I preferred the heavier (160-165 gr)...
