There seems to be quite a bit of interest in the 7mm-6.5 PRC wildcat. Sorry, cannot recall at the moment what they are calling it.
Edit: They are calling it the 7-6.5 PRCW.
As previously mentioned, only plan at this time for this year is to rebarrel the LH Browning X Bolt All Weather 308 Win to 25 Creedmoor. It will get a 24" 1:7.5 twist barrel; either a Benchmark 5 R or a Wilson carbon fibre. Both are performing well in the 6.5 CM and 250 Savage.
Already have...
I had always wished for a LH Ruger 10/22, and had even said if they ever built one, I would buy one.
After they finally introduced one (Custom Shop Competition Model), I wanted one, but had other priorities... 🤔
So long story short, l I finally found one at a price I couldn't refuse 3 weeks...
I agree; just being out there is just as rewarding as coming home with something!
I have had many outings where we didn't see any game, but got to see some beautiful country!
Spent many long days out hunting where we didn't see what we were looking for, but did see a lot of game.
Just grateful...
While I am not quite there yet, having just turned 57, I do find that my priorities too have changed somewhat, and will continue to change in the coming years.
For firearms, I am slowing down on the acquisitions (only have one rebarrel project for this year; turning the LH Browning X Bolt All...
A 6.5 127 gr bullet at 3145 fps will definitely reach out and touch something!
And 140 gr bullets at 3000 fps will also perform well on game!
Better sharpen your knives! 😎
(I know that I am still looking forward to taking game with my 6.5 PRC! 130-140 gr bullets at 3000+ fps)
Was reading about them recently...
When I bought my first Kimber 1911 (45ACP), I went with a version with that same rounded grip at the bottom, and found that it reacted differently in my hand during recoil. I didn't care for it. DrMike bought it from me, and my current Kimber (10mm) has the...
At first, the 338 RPM appealed to me as well...
While not a true apples-to-apples comparison:
When I look at the powder burned in a 24" vs 18" barrel with a 225 gr AccuBond, you get 2800 fps vs 2660 fps (loss of approx. 23 fps/inch), and then look at my 338-06 with a 215 gr bullet getting 2750...
With a Cerakoted action and metal work, I wouldn’t worry about the metal being chrome moly or stainless.
Should you scratch or ding the Cerakote, it is an easy fix by those that offer the service. The older powder coat could allow moisture in under the coating, but Cerakote doesn’t.
While I do not have the 375 Ruger, I have it's little brother, the 376 Steyr.
I have not taken game with the factory ammo with the 270 gr Interlock, or its 225 gr lighter load; I have shot both in my rifle (custom LH Ruger M77 Mk II), they do shoot pretty well. The 270 gr ammo produces groups of...
I did not note in my first post of this thread, but for most of my reloading, I did not have a chronograph. Once I had one, I was able to verify what my loads were actually producing. Now that I have my Garmin, life has gotten even better, as my old chrony did not prove to be as reliable as I...
Always loved that version of the Model 7! Too bad they didn't build it in left hand!
Still, I probably wouldn't pass on one in 250 Savage or 257 Roberts should I ever come across one...
