In the process of having a 223AI built now, for a combination practice rifle and coyote rig.
So far I've got:
Bartlein Mod B 1:7.5 .224 24" fluted Sendero profile.
Impact Precision 373R
Manners MCS-LRH-SC Sport Comp Stock
TriggerTech Diamond
MDT M5 precision bottom metal.
Barrel is being...
Especially if your minimal sizing to fit another rifles chamber.
I've also never had an issue using FL dies in a 7600. In my 358Win I partial FL size for that rifle.
Honestly I end up over book max probably 95% of the time.
If you use the OCW method of load development, your test loads at least will be 1 increment above the average of 3 max book loads.

Sure.. it started out as a 20" barreled MS from the custom shop:
That weighed 8lbs all up with a Swarovski 1.25-4X. With it I killed a couple elk, some deer and a few pigs. It was a little heavy for what I wanted as I aged (gracefully, I might add), and showing its age with wear. So I had it...
It's definitely a "carry more than shoot" rig. Not something that's fun off a bench, but from field positions it's really not that bad.
I put it together while stationed at Ft. Lewis for elk. With 225s and 200s, it's not bad at all, the 250s at 2599 are definitely an eye opener. This load is...
Not a 35W, but I've been playing with CFE223 in my 350RM with Nosler 250PTs.
20" barrel, Rem 350 brass, FED 215s and 2599 FPS at 45F, just over 1MOA at 100yds with an 8X scope. I can go slightly higher, but right now ina sub 7lb carbine it's all the fun I can stand.
Base 7600 off of GB to my door $750
JES Rebore $350
Synthetic stock set $225
Barrel chopped, re-crown and CeraKote $300
Rifle: $1625. But a base 35W "hunting rifle" would be about $1000 after re-boring depending on how much the doner rifle cost you.
Leupold VX3HD 1.5-5X "Twilight Hunter"...
Another solution for a purely hunting rifle is to just make one.
This one started out as a straight .243Win. I had JES bore it out to 358Win and my smith cut the barrel to 19" and cerakote it.
It could have just as easily been a 35W, but I wanted it for our deer drives, and didn't need...
Honestly I prefer late afternoon to evening hunts, most of the time the deer are heading out to feed and are a little more predictable. It also has a set ending point, legal shooting time, so I'm not sitting in a stand thinking "just 10 more minutes" for another 1-2hrs. I head out around 2:00...
We get that occasionally, but mostly windchill, today for example it's 29, feels like 19. KS definitely has 4 seasons:
Spring
Sucks
Fall
Sucks worse
One thing we do get that truly sucks are the ticks and chiggers, hence the mobile shooting platform pictured..
I'd love to get that kind of distance here, but my property only runs 1/2 mile deep. So my solution is to just use smaller targets..
another thing we've gone to to "stretch" the distance is .22LRs at 200-300yds. It really makes you watch the wind shifts. I set up a little 22LR precision range...
It's the route I'm taking. I use the crap out of my .223 bolt guns, probably shoot them 2-3xs more than my other rifles just due to cost and lack of recoil.
I've also got a new one in the works, a .223AI on an Impact Precision 737R action. Barrel is a Bartlein Sendero MOD B barrel, finished...
I've "tuned" mine and thanks to a little bit of magnification can see difference in a kernel of H4831SC:
Combined with a Harrell's it's not the fastest setup, but it's reliable.
I've only used the .358 180 FN HotCor in my 19" 358 Win @ 2570FPS.
I've shot several pigs with it and it's worked well. I finally recovered one this JAn that entered a hogs shoulder at 10' and penetrated the length to come to rest in the hind quarter.
The Speer 250s showed up yesterday!
Then a friend swung by today and handed me 2 sealed boxes of Nosler 250 PTs, 6 boxes of old Speer 250s and 2 boxes of Speer 220 FNs (both in yellow boxes). So, I've now got enough for the hunt and some serious practice!
I couldn't find where it said Speer" or Hot Cors and the ones I've loaded didn't have cannelures. They kind of look like Hornady's.
I just sent them an inquiry asking..
Thanks,
Chuck
