Your welcome. Sometime things so simple are amazingly frustrating. IMO that is a Lapua issue. Their clearances are too tight even for SAMMI spec chambers.
OK but if you were to draw, which bull would it be? and do they not have landowner tags in WA?
In ID the landowners aren't supposed to sell the tags but it happens all the time. It's more like I'll donate to your checking account and your now my good friend that gives me a tag. :) .
I have messed with hundreds of customs barrel and every once in a while you'll get a barrel that defies all logic. I have seen several run 150-200fps faster than they should with normal pressure. In this case it was a pressure issue though.
I'm ready too. I have 2 bull tags in Idaho, plus I put my kids and myself in for a extra elk tag in the second drawing. I also have a cow tag in WY and my oldest kid has a bull tag. My kids have bull tags here as well. 6 elk tags between us at the moment.
The case necks typically spring back several thou upon firing so your chamber is probably around .340+". Sammi is .340 BTW. I would definitely say your clearance is too tight.
If the bullet is tight on a fired Lapua case that means the clearance was tight to the chamber and the spring back was enough to create a tight neck. When I loaded the Lapua brass I had I turned the necks quite a bit. Too little neck clearance will cause pressure and erratic accuracy as well...
Smaller case capacity will pressure out sooner and have lower velocity. I had the same problem with RWS brass. It will take the pressure but it never shot well. My guess is your in the same boat. I know the 200gr AB have a longer bearing surface than the 215 Bergers we shoot and we shoot around...
I had the same thoughts and noticed the same lack of masks. There is no way I believe they haven't been giving him something to try and stay coherent and whatever that is they got abysmally wrong for the debate. None of the excuses they gave for that performance made any sense at all. If you...
If you used the action screws to hold it in the stock you should tighten it down fully and then back the screws off until they just touch. This relieves any stress that might be in stock due to bad inletting. You can wrap the whole thing with masking tape to help hold it in the stock too. I tape...
My kids and I drew a blank in OR too. We also drew a blank in UT. Hopefully ID treats us better than last year, which was a blank. That was pretty bad considering I also put my parents and wife in for tags to transfer to my kids. 24 applications and zero draws.
