A pair of eagles on the homestead with one snacking on an elk ear. A couple nights ago they were both sitting in a tree watching a younger one chow down. A bit long winded video but I enjoyed watching them.
Found a deal at Walmart several years back. 6.5 Ballistic Tips for $8 a box. Went back a couple days later to buy some more and asked if they were still $8? Guy says no, they’re $5 now. Still using that supply.
I had some that came from the factory where several of the tips had come off. With the little experimenting I did they went to the same POI at 100 yards.
Not the exit wound. The shot was from the front and went to the elk’s left side. It was fortunate to catch a lung which saved this from being a bad situation. Interestingly the plastic tip of the Accubond was just under the hide on the entrance. The blood in the photo was when I lifted the head...
Getting near the end of the antlerless elk season so I was happy to get it done this morning.
Rifle is a cheap Savage 270 and the 130 grain Accubond did the trick.
Not the best shot but I was able to hit one lung and it went a couple of hundred yards before piling up next to the shooting bench...
I was happy to find this new in the box shooting bench for cheap on local Market Place. I haven’t shot off of it yet but it felt pretty solid when I got it put together and set up.
Will make a good one for moving around after the ground squirrels.
Got a pic on the trail cam of one cougar and put the drone in the air to see if I could catch it in the open.
I wasn’t expecting to see what I saw. Video not great as things were happening quick and I had to maintain altitude to clear the power lines.
I think this is the mother and two kittens...
The elk spent the afternoon on the homestead so I flew the drone up to see how the herd is doing. Just the ladies and the littles but they all look like they’re doing well. I always like to see the calves. Between my place and the neighbor’s place there are at least 4 cougars hanging around and...
I was surprised to see this cat wandering around in the middle of the afternoon. I’m thinking it looks a bit skinny so probably looking for an easy meal.
I’ve had good luck with the Tactacam Reveal cameras. They are all set up locally on the homestead so I use a battery box with a 12 volt battery rather than AA batteries.
