Stopped at the local bird sanctuary but there wasn’t a lot going on. Was shooting some video via a camera attached to a spotting scope on a windy day. Resulting video was shaky but when editing the footage I was able to export some still captures from the video that don’t turn out too bad.
I’ve got one that is getting quite tame. He always lands on the lower branch, pecks on the branch he’s sitting on for a bit (nervous energy?) then swoops down to get the first peanut as soon as I pour them out.
They all come flocking in when I whistle for them.
I got a nice swiveling chair for use in the coyote blind. I’m kind of tall and old and the blind is kind of short. Will make getting in and out easier.
I usually just drop a cow to fill the freezer. I like watching the bulls. Neighbor bow hunts for bulls but often gets his bull out of a different herd.
Interested in what goofy will look like next year.
Got a top tang safety Ruger in 7 X 57.
It has proven to be finicky on what it likes for ammo but I have taken a couple of deer with it over the years.
It settled in a decent result with 139 grain Hornady but I actually took the deer with 150 grain Ballistic Tips.
I purchased a bunch of 7mm bullets if anybody is interested in a trade. I don’t think I will ever get around to using them all.
150 grain Nosler Solid Base factory blems-2 bags of 100
154 grain Hornady Spire Point- 2 boxes of 100
If interested in any or all, let me know what you have to...
I prepped 29 of the brass this afternoon that still had fired primers in place. I don’t know it the shoulders had been set back prior to these being fired but I saw no indication of brass stretching on these.
Inspecting the others with the shoulders set back there doesn’t appear to be any...
Annealing some brass with Annealeez. I’ve got to believe the Gen 3 model is a bit more convenient than the predecessors with the hose and nozzle affixed to the frame. Easy to make adjustments while in use with the Gen 3 and the gas bottle held in a muffler clamp. Simple is oft times better.
Season opened this morning for cow elk on the homestead.
Going to give the 8 Mag a try this year with 200 grain Nosler Partitions.
Remington 700
