Hey there,
Just got my 6x45 R700 together, was wondering if anyone has any information on it they would like to share.
I'm thinking about giving Power Pro Varmint a try. I have been using H335 and AA2200 for barrel break in. I'm wondering what folks are using with the 70gr Nosler By. I've...
I load 43.5 of IMR 4064 and I would recommend you do the same. It looks like a relatively flat spot velocity wise. I'm getting 2740 as well.

I've long looked at this chambering as I absolutely love the 338 caliber. SS stands for Sherman Short, all built off the RSAUM case. I believe it started with the 7mm but I may be wrong. Impressive ballistics for sure. He is starting to use ADG for brass, and with all the 6.5 Gap and cartridges...
I went with the long cut version for my 7mm RM and Swift Scirocco's just to have a more full case in my hunting load. In a hunting rifle I tend to want near max case fill just due to almost always having the muzzle facing the ground as I walk or in a tree stand shooting downwards. I want my...
I just set up my late grandfather's Winchester M88 for this fall, but I used a 165 HotCor. I found boat tails would not shoot out of it so I tried the HC and it was amazing. The old girl will hit 2740 fps and is under an inch with 48.5gr of 2000MR. Seated at 2.820ish.
Bit heavier than you...
I was .010" longer than their recommended COAL, so extremely close, was about .078" short of the lands. When I switched to H1000, two three shot groups gave the same results, one at about 1oclock, next two over an inch away touching at the 11. Shot the same target, same results 15 minutes...
Just to close the loop, I'm giving up on these bullets. I tried different seating, different powder charges, I cleaned the barrel, switched to H1000, nothing under 1.25". I switch to the 180 ELD-M in a middling load of H1000 and consistently get .25moa groups.
I can decide today what I'm...
I've been testing the classic 38.0gr H380 the past few weeks, using 52gr Nosler CC and 53gr Vmax. With the Vmax I got four in one hole and a 5th less than 1/2" away using WLRM primers. Non-magnum gave a bit larger group. I tried sweating depth and CCI200, WLR and WLRM with the 52 CC, all under...
I loaded up cfe223, tac and h322 this morning to see what will work best. Something will tickle his fancy I'm sure.

I struggled but didn't pull the trigger. Probably should get some more 95gr BTs but just ordered 500 165 308 HotCors. My wife said I have too many bullets. I did an inventory and realized I have just about enough for this month. ;)

What's everyone using in their 204's? I'm loading for my FIL's No1, I believe it's a shorter barrel, I've only shot it a few times. I have 32/34 grain bullets on hand, he liked 25.0gr Rx10 with the Varmint Nightmares, but it didn't have as much velocity but drop as 32gr vmax and 28.0gr H335...
Did you put that load on a chrono? Vertical stringing is usually more to do with large es, while horizontal is generally the rifle. If the es is good then start seating out by 0.030" at a time, should see something tighten up. How far out can you seat in that mag?

Deer will be my late grandfather's Winchester M88 I was given for Christmas this year with a 165gr HotCor.
If I get pulled for a moose permit I'll probably go with my 338-06 with either 200gr NBT or 225 Accubond.
If I don't get the call for a moose, I might get to go out west for a hunt of a...
For 150gr Swift Scirocco II's, I use standard H4831, 67.0 gr with F215 primers and a good jump. I'd start around 63gr, go up by .5gr with only one round and chrono them. Once you get around your desired velocity, do a .2gr flat spot test starting 1 grain below and .6-1 grain above your desired...
I went out and tested 64.3, two three shot groups at 100 yards netted about 1.25", sp I think with the bullet seated in a little further I can tighten it up. Going to swy away .075" and .100", do a three shot group and see what happens next. Hard to find the time right now. I'll get the info...
If you have a well, have the water tested and you will see that there are trace amounts of lead in the water. That's something you use everyday.
That being said, I completely understand how you feel, and if you think the concern will take away from your hunting experience then do the change and...
I think I'm going to use some H1000 and see how it works with my gun and bullets to see if it's just a faster set up or I'm flirting with pressures. See how close I can come to Federal's data.
