For the handloaders that do Facebook

It didn't matter how many times they were told to not post firearms stuff for sale... They kept doing it. That page did grow tremendously Fotis, showing that there is a strong interest in firearms & ammunition on FB. I've tried on Shooting The Breeze to keep the "for sale" stuff off... Most...

    H870 data

H870 was great with 175 gr Nosler Partitions or 175 gr Sierra GameKings in my 7mm Remington Magnum. As others have said, it's pretty dirty, but accurate and can produce excellent velocity as well. Took my big bull elk 25 years ago using it! I'd think it would do very well with the 264 Win Mag...

    Do you recall your firsts?

Rifles - I'm fortunate to still have the first two rifles I shot, both belonged to Dad: 22 rimfire, Marlin 39 Mountie - he set it up with the 2.5x Leupold later in life. I'm leaving it there as it's handy to have a scoped 22 rimfire. I was probably 5 or 6 when I started shooting it. First...

What did you use to take your first animal of other species?

With a 22 Marlin 39 Mountie at age 7 I was terrorizing the muskrats, ground squirrels, jackrabbits, cottontail, rockchucks, probably illegal birds, coots... I thought it was small game hunting... No, I was an unleashed young rifleman with blood lust! Poor critters! Dad and Grandpa were quite...

FS - JP Sauer and Sohn Mauser 98 Sporter .35 Whelen

Great looking classic rifle, I'm just not in a rifle-buying position right now... I'm sure you'll have no trouble selling it on Gunbroker! Regards, Guy

    Powder Valley Fire

Glad no one was injured. I seem to remember Nosler coming back from a big fire some years ago, Pac-Nor barrels too. Was there a stock maker that burned quite a while ago? Guy

    Summit Press

Hmm... Haven't run into that yet and have used the Summit quite a bit the past two years. Have you contacted RCBS? They have excellent customer service and may be able to recommend something. Guy

    New camp/Truck rifle

Very cool little rifle! I'd likely load up some jacketed 240's to near max and call it good. Guy

    7 re mag and 150 g bullets

I was really pleased with the performance of IMR 8133 and a couple of different 150 grain bullets from the 7mm Rem mag. Averaged 3217 fps with one bullet and proved very accurate. That was a couple of grains under max, but pushing it harder only yielded a small velocity increase. Typically I...

30-06 QL Help Please and any help from the stands would be great too.

For several years I made the 165 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip and H4350 my standard load for the 30-06 cartridge. One memorable season I used it on: Black bear at about 325 yards, one shot kill, recovered the jacket from the off-side hide after a raking shot through the vitals. Mule deer buck at...

    Universal reloading manual

It's been great watching more and more load data appear online, for free. I still have several print manuals. Also often buy the Hodgdon manual, almost every year, because there are some great articles in it. Guy

    Ramshot Hunter in .243 Win?

Might work out well. I've used it with good results in the 6mm Remington. Here's some Nosler 243 info:

    16" vs 24" .308 Win Velocity...

Once ya cut a couple of inches off the barrel, it takes a lot of JB Weld to get it back on properly!

So Glad That I Tried Different Rifle Cartridges & Loads!

The simple approach appeals to me. One rifle, one load, use it for pretty much everything! Love it. JY Jones took almost everything in North America with the 165 gr Nosler Partition and his trusty Remington 700 30-06, then bumped up to the 200 gr Partition for a couple of the bigger species...

    Can I use IMR4227 for H4227?

I dunno - but I see some decent looking 357 mag loads on Hodgdon's online data center using IMR 4227. I wouldn't assume IMR 4227 is the same as H 4227, but a phone call to Hodgdon can likely clear that up quickly. Guy

    Loading 38 Super

I'll be interested in your progress & reports with this. I haven't ever loaded the 38 Super. Yet. But I kind of want a 1911 in 38 Super - just because! Am thinking a blued Colt with ivory grips... Might have to swap a gun to afford something like that. :) Regards, Guy

300 PRC and Hornady 212 Grain ELD-X factory ammo

Under an inch with five shots from the 300 PRC is just fine. You've got it well dialed for accuracy. I've only used the lighter 178 gr ELD-X on one cow elk, a couple of years ago with Dale (filmjunkie here on the forum). Accuracy was excellent. Cow elk was at 405 yards in a stiff crosswind...

    Dinosaurs and sheep

Congrats! Particularly on the blesbok. I have read somewhere that ostrich can get downright pushy and aggressive, even dangerous. Guy
