    Quickload Request?

It does look that way Jim, but it was a 30+yr old cheapie & had been shot a few times & repaired. Anyway, it's junked now & I'll pick up the new Caldwell when I'm in the USA next week. Your QL data tells me all I need to know... so the best I think I'm gonna get will be around 3000fps, more than...

    Quickload Request?

Many thanks Jim, this information is much appreciated. My Chrony was giving me fps readings around the 2850fps & I didn't trust the data, (My Chrony had been shot several times & repaired) but it seems it was fairly accurate. Anyway I junked the Chrony as it was 30yrs old. I'll be in Colorado in...

    Quickload Request?

Hi folks, if anyone is kind enough to help, I'd like QL details on the following please: .25-06Rem. Vihtavouri N560 & 110gn Nosler Accubond bullet. 22" Barrel Currently I load 51.2-52gns Viht N560 & MV a bit down on where I think it could be - it's accurate, but I think maybe a bit more MV is...

    Resizing question

Yup, primers do get pushed back from the pocket into the bolt face & I regard this small amount of additional measurement as worth taking into consideration to achieve a max headspace dimension. In allowing this & setting my die accordingly I can say, I've never had an issue with chambering ANY...

    Resizing question

In my opinion - Definitely I use it & measure my 'Fired Case' headspace with fired primer still in place. Set F/L sizing die to just bump case shoulder back Max .002"

    Resizing question

Full length re-sizing to 'Fired Case' headspace dimension is in my opinion best, but yes, you can neck size. I gave up neck sizing many years ago. Neck sizing, while many folk do it, doing this has its own issues - eventually after a few 'Neck sized' firings, the case will 'Grow' at the shoulder...

    Case head seperation problem

This is a possibility, though personally, I've never come across it before.

    Case head seperation problem

Resizing cases to SAAMI/CIP spec (Especially in older rifles) is usually way too much work on the brass. Get a headspace measurement guage as TackDriver284 says & measure your 'Fired case' headspace dimension (With fired primer in) . Measure several fired cartridges & use the average dimension...

    Off the lands bullet seating?

There are often at least a couple of sweet spots but I found .030" off the lans with .257 Accubonds gave me the greatest accuracy, but hey that's in my K95 rifle. I found Sierra Game Kings & Hornady SST in my other rifles are somewhat different

Varying COAL 's with Ballistic Tips ?

I use the Hornady comparator system too - not expensive & works well enough :)

Varying COAL 's with Ballistic Tips ?

Ha ha :ROFLMAO: the dark art of reloading, off down the rabbit hole eh! Bullet comparator measuring from ogive is always best - bullet tip to case head measurements will always see variations even with plastic tipped bullets & especially with lead tipped. It's also likely that using standard...

    Magnum Rifle Primers

Primer prices are now very high in UK anywhere from £14-£17 / 100 if you can find them. Most dealers here will now only sell you one or two hundred not like a couple of years ago when it was easy to buy 1000

    Did anyone Know this?

The grub screw & knurled knob thread are the same - useful especially if you mess up the grub screw

    30-06 and N555

Vihtavouri propellant is good stuff. I use Vit. N560 in my .25-06 & get great accuracy. It's pretty pricey here in UK at around £120/kilo - $150 approx. But that's around 2.2lbs.

    Alliant Powders...Eye Watering

Your $250 turns at a minimum into £300GBP here in UK - with carriage across the pond & UK tax & duty often shop pricing is way more than you pay in USA. We're at around £60/lb for propellant & around £150/1000 for primers. I was recently in Bass Pro in Colorado Springs & amazed how much less you...

    6.5x55 Swede

I also use 46gns H4350 with my Mannlicher Classic Stutzen & a 123gn SST - gives me around 2800fps with a 22" barrel - very accurate too - Rem. 9 1/2 primer. I'm using Norma brass. Not quite at 0.36's but definitely not more than 0.5" (Mostly) :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: It's definitely the...

    6.5x55 Swede

Due to EU 'REACH' regs in Europe many of the old IMR/Hodgdon/Alliant etc propellants are no longer available in UK. These manufacturers now have in place other REACH compliant propellants... though mostly I use Vihtavouri N550 or N550 depending on bullet/cartridge. For what I'm shooting here...

    80th Anniversary D-Day

So in 2 weeks it's the 8-th Anniversary of the D-Day landings when so many gave their lives to free Europe. A lot has begun to happen in Normandy now & I know it will be packed there with many American's, British, French, German and other nationalities. I have friends there very near Utah Beach...

    Fixing high ES

Gotta admit I don't worry too much about ES only where the bullets go & as long as they go the right place I'm not concerned. My MV doesn't change only to within a few fps & they do the job when they strike
