There was 2700 ADJ commemorative's made total, all in 38-55. Production year was 1980. There is one on gunbroker right now, but this one has a much nicer stock

Would you shoot this?? It's a 38-55 Winchester "Alberta Diamond Jubilee" commemorative, unfired with original box. It does have some tarnishing on the reciver, but that could be polished up a bit.
I sold off my Sako 75 7mm rem, I still don't know why, but I just didn't take to that rifle...
I got the VTR back yesterday and only had time to fire 1 round off the deck to see how the fired brass looked. I stole the leupold 4.5-14X40 off my 7mm and mounted it, bore sighted it (didn't need any adjustment :-)) this morning and here are the pics.
I added my 22-250AI Rem 700 to the pic too...
When I think 1 gun, my thought process turns to a more european concept, Blaser 93 with a case full of barrels. Or if it has to be pinned down to one caliber and no swichtable barrels, A weatherby DGR in 378 or 416. Be the 416 with two scopes on leopold QR mounts. A 1.5-4 X a 4.5-14X40AO. Choice...
There is a poll runnning in Austrailia right now asking if they shouold ban the annual duck hunt. There is some population concerns and perhaps better management needed, but this is to BAN it.

Let's give them a hand shall we??

Of course, nosler could build me a 155 or 160 grain Custom Comp bullet that would look like a pencil without the lead point...... Would be spectacular.

I have a Pac-Nor, but I ordered it with a faster twist than I needed and now I need heavy for caliber bullets and maybe a rechamber to a severe overbore to get the potencial out of it. It's a 1-8.5 chambered in 264 withi a turn neck and it shoots 140 VLDs and SMK's very well. I would have tried...
My VTR was finished yesterday. The action has been trued, the trigger lightened up and the integral muzzlebrake removed/barrel recrowned.
My gunsmith suggested taking the muzzlebrake off as the factory crown was pretty ugly and that is the only way to recrown a VTR barrel. I took his word for...
Has anybody got any load data with either H870 or 8700 for the 270 wby & 300 Ultra Mag??
The 270 wby has a slow twist, so I'll be starting with 130 grain accubonds and Sierra GameKings. If it'll handle 140's I'll for sure use them, but I am not sure it will.
THe 300 Ultra will get 180 & 200...
Making dies is possible, but it works much better with a resize reamer that is about 5 thou undersized and will allow your brass to hold it's form and have enough clearance to chamber easily. IF your brass is the same size as the chamber it won't chamber or not easily.
The bigger mistake is...
They are about $138 Usd from Pacific Tool & Gauge. Shipping was $23 bucks for me, but that was too Canada.
In the US you have the option of renting reamers. I don't have that luxary, it is not expensive, about half the cost of buying it.
If you are after that chambering specifically and can...
+1, 7mm rem brass is fairly simple to reform and neck turn. I go in two steps, first to .264 neck diameter by way of a 264 win neck die and then .257 with the FL 257 wby die. Neck turning is advised. I would fear excessive pressure with a unturned neck since it will be a bit thicker
As a side...
Anybody here know how to boresight a VTR?? the integral brake won't allow use of a pilot boresighter and I hardly want to buy a lazer bore sighter for one rifle.
Any tips??
JT.
I'm just into the Ackley's. Not sure if it's just the quality barrel or chambering, but my 22-250AI shoots lights out.
My younger brother shot a one-hole group with it yesterday and I shot around 3/4" shooting leaning against a truck box with my arms crossed along the box. I'll know soon, my...
Nobody ever said that high BC was free, LOL.
I'd personally favor the 260AI or 6.5-06AI, but that is due to
A: an aversion to trimming brass. less time trimming is more time shooting and
B: I have a 264 turn neck with a 8.5 twist and get pressure at loads I could reach with a -06 case, so...
I'm thinking you're quite close to the truth there. I know that a 105 will stabilze more easily with a 243 AI in a 1-9 twist, but normal twist is 9.5 or 10 in a 243 win and that max's out at 100 grains. I guess if somebody built a 6mmWSM that it would be able to stabilize heavier than normal...
