I also used John Barsness's load recommendations in my Dad's CZ 550/9.3x62. I had no problems reaching 2650 fps with a 250 Accubond. There were no pressure issues. It is definitely a 300 yard cartridge.

My Dad has one and loves it. He used it to kill his 6x6 this year. The 250 Accubond with RL15 did the trick. We had no problems finding a load for it.

I had a 338-06 a few years ago. I shot a couple of whitetails, a couple of aoudad, and a bull elk. I used the 200 gr. Ballistic Tip for everything. That was a much tougher bullet than most people would think.
But, for some reason, I sold it to a friend. My Dad borrowed it from him, and...
Even without knowing the cartridge you intend to use, I would pick the Accubond hands down. I shot some Accubonds and Partitions into test media this summer, with a 30-06, and was very impressed with the 165 Accubond.
I used a Sierra 180 Prohunter on an elk one time. Even though it was only...
Very nice cartridge. It is very similar to the 30-338 wildcat. I have some experience with the wildcat.
What kind of rifle is it, if you don't mind me asking? If it were mine, I'd scrounge up the stuff to load for it, and shoot it. No safe queens at my house!

JD338,
Thanks for the welcome. I've been hanging around for quite a while now. There's some good information around here. It's also a lot more civilized than some other places I've been lately. Keep up the good work.
