My primary hunting rifles are all Tikkas (T3 Lite stainless or Superlite, no T3x). 7mm Rem Mag and 7mm-08. The Mag shoots a 162 eldx at just under 3k, the Mighty -08 shoots a 150 eldx at 2790.
If I want sedate I’ll shoot the Mighty -08. It’s sedate enough to kill a 5x6 bull at over 400...
7mm Rem Mag, 162 eldx started at 3k, 4 elk, 100-400 yards, one shot each. Unremarkable blood shot, farthest recovery was 90 feet.
A bunch of bucks and another bull, 7mm-08, 150 eldx, 100-400 yards, one shot each. Unremarkable blood shot, farthest recovery was 60 feet.
I’m a believer.
When I started experimenting with the 150 eldx I bought a long action bolt stop for my -08 so I could load long. Using a .30-06 length magazine and the long bolt stop I developed a great load, and it cycles like butter.

Reloader 26 if you can find it. 160 Accubond, 68.5 grains, work up to it. 162 eldx, 69 grains, work up to it.
Close to 3k at the muzzle for each load. I’ve killed 2 elk with the 162 load.

Mine feed like starving baby birds.
That’s a creepy analogy but apt. That’s across 12-14 rifles in my family.
What cartridge are you having problems with?

Do this. 30 FPS per inch. Compare velocities (I pay zero attention to energy) at 25 yard increments out to how far you tell people you shoot. Stop calculating when the slower load hits 1800 FPS, and see how much farther the faster load travels before it too hits 1800 FPS.
It won’t be much.
The T3x solves non-existent problems. The pad is softer, yes, but it still needs replacement by a Limbsaver. Ejection port is larger, apparently to facilitate easier single top loading. This detracts from the rigidity of the action imo, which could negatively affect accuracy. Metal bolt...
Take your pick, 4 different Tikkas:

140 Partition or Accubond, whichever shoots better
47.5 gr Big Game
WLRM
Rem brass
2880 FPS
150 Eldx
46.2 gr Big Game
WLRM
Rem brass

Out of a Tikka T3 Lite stainless using Big Game:
120 NBT 3126 FPS
140 Partition 2890 FPS
150 eldx 2790 FPS
StaBall has slightly higher velocities posted, but not enough to be interesting.
