I've never heard of a GD bullet that wasn't bonded. Any bonded bullet can exceed its designed velocity envelope and shed it's core but I've never seen one seperate from the jacket. It should be a gradual process though as compared to when a C&C bullet loses its integrity. The malleability of the...
I wouldn't be surprised if that slow twist will stabilize the 95gr PT. It's profile isnt that long. I would think it to be on the edge as history has proven that bullets >100gr are not stabilized consistently from that barrel.
If they do stabilize that load would be an excellent medium-sized...
If it's just stuck in the leade of the barrel I would push it out with a wooden dowel without fear of the dowel splitting and jamming it in worse. You can also wrap duct tape one time around the dowel to help prevent splitting. I would soak it with penetrating oil overnight. Kroil, Liquid...
I think any of the new 5x mag scopes out there would work great with this cartridge. It definitely has some reach out and touch something capabilities but enough oomph to handle tight, dangerous work as well. Any scope with 1.5-7.5x or 2-10x would be perfect IME.
You have plenty of years to...
I just bought a NIB S&W Model 19-3. Box, papers, no cylinder marks, etc... Seller couldn't believe his ears when he asked me what I'm going going to do with it and I replied, "clean it and shoot it!".
I would have sold your Model 94 as well as it was made for display in my eyes.
Very satisfying results Tom. Good to see you've finally come to green pastures with that rifle. That Whelen will serve you well and the Hot-Cors are a perfect choice for that MV.
I'm curious as to how JES marked your barrel?
I was lucky because I was deemed "excepted" from the furlough after two days but not all of us were. We all wear the same uniform every day but somehow we're not deemed military. :?
I've thought about a re-bore but have decided against it. I can wait, it's not like I'm hurting due to a lack...
Copy that. Thanks for running the numbers. I would assume that QL's predictions are at the muzzle and I'm probably losing ~5fps just to reach my chrony. Throw in the accuracy tolerance of the chrony, unique powder lot characteristics and the position of Jupiter vs Mars and you get to the actual...
Just so happens that I used water that had been in a glass I left on my bench from last night. Used a wide bore syringe to fill the cases. The meniscus was noticeable but not pronounced. When I maxed out surface tension of the water it was a smidge (scientific term for the unedumacated..)...
I took an average of ten cases and water capacity was 69.38gr to the very top of the brass with barely any meniscus. Not certain where "usable water capacity" would be determined in QL's data field.
I have been playing with my 30-06 BDL and 168gr BTs. I have worked up loads to just above book max with three powders and have yet to break 2775fps. This is the first year I have shot this rifle across a chrony and have been a bit disappointed with my velocities. It shoots several of these loads...
I have excellent, albeit limited, experience with the 140gr AB out of a 270win on moose. One rib shot pass through and one near side rib/far side scapula pass thru on a young bull. I think any bonded or Partition style bullet will perform fine from any .277 rifle as long as you choose your...
I'm starting to get a little bored with the Partition-like performance of the ABs. It seems like they've got them dialed in pretty good.
That load will perform great on anything.
Thanks for the boring report!
