Whoa! Whenever I try to buy pistol ammo at WallyWorld they need to page someone who knows how to run my pistol permit thru their system. You can buy powder?? /sigh
I've always despised them for the damage they've done to small town America.
It was just a whitetail but this bullet went thru a lot of spine. There's a pic later in the thread to clarify. This same gun and load have now taken three elk, one legal Co. bull and two cows, with no problems. Nice expansion based upon exit holes and internal trauma. One cow did run over 200...
I wish I could get my hands on some of these. I like their wide mushroom and weight retention. They may not penetrate as deep with that large expanded surface area but would certainly transfer a mess of energy.
The Fusion bullet is made using the same process but is a different style of...
If elk was in the equation I'd try to find a good load using a 150/154/160gr bullet. Get your relative velocity above 2750/2700/2650fps and let the SD do its job. It'll slay an elk no problem as long you keep your range shorter than 225yds or so. One million plus dead moose from aenemic 6.5x55...
Very nice. That's a totally different list of powders than what is normally envisioned for that cartridge when it is hamstrung with the slower twist rates. Those long. hi-BC bullets definitely brings the 22-250 back into the long range arena.
Why so many manufacturers stick to 1in12/14 twist with this cartridge is beyond me.
Those loads look good! Never heard of anyone using H4831 in the 22-250. Sitting on the edge here about your velocities.
Looks good! Those are both very respectable groups.
These groups resemble what I expect from my .270Win when the barrel is squeaky clean. The first 3-4 shots are high and then everything stays right where shot #4&5 from your Nosler group are and all of your Rem brass group are. No difference if...
I did this Euro mount for my son's buck this year. It was my first attempt and I'd do it again. This took me a week of time and maybe 12 hours of work to accomplish. The longest part was the boiling. I can't find the pics of the horns sticking out of the steaming pot. :( "Who said you can't...
I've carried a .270Win with a 140gr AB inside for elk but never used it on one. I have killed a 3.5yr old moose with the same combo and it entered near side ribes and exited far side shoulder at 120 yds. Bull turned tail towards me and trotted away for 50 yds and collapsed mid-stride. I was...
I let any rattler live. They have always warned me of their presence for which I am thankful. It does concern me with my dogs but I have to go up the mountain to run into any Timber Rattlers and I keep a short leash when I go into rattler country. Copperheads, on the other hand, get shot on...
To stay in line with the OP's question, I would look at the 243WSSM with the 5.56-sized lower. If the AR-10 lower is used, I would stick with the .308Win.
To get on the side rail of this thread, I lost a 358Win case this fall and spent a good 30 minutes looking for it to no avail. I did find a...
