Suggest a Rem 760 with the 9 locking lugs in 30-06 and have a good premium barrel installed in 35 Whel or 338-06 . Very easy coversion and you will have a more accurate rifle . I prefer the 338-06 over the 35 Whel and the REM 760 over the REM 7600.
Suggest do the research come to Alaska ( Fairbanks) bring your SBS or ATV and trailer camping gear and when you arrive late Aug go to fish and Game in Fairbanks and he will direct you where to go easy driving lots of trails ! Save Thousands of dollars ! You will enjoy the drive up and the...
That a very High velocity round for Whitetails to avoid meat damage I suggest a good Barnes Bullet and Swift A frame with RL22 worked good for me as well as IMR 7828 with Fed 215 primers. Weatherby loaded the 120gr Partition for years in the 257 WBY with Norma MRP powder.
Some of those Turkey made SxS are good fitting
But always been a fan of older REM 870 wingmasters with the steel parts. I carry an old 870 with a 18.5” cylinder barrel and attached Leupold DPP with Breneke Slugs I keep in the RV for Bear over the years I got the complete REM VR barrels set...
Find a good older Rem 870 Wingmaster and find a complete set of original Vent Rib barrels starting with the 18.5” Cylinder and Deer Slug Barrel. Love that 26” VR IC barrel for grouse hunting.
LC Smith for DB or Fox Sterlingworth
Over the years since the early 70’s with the first Nosler No 1 manuals loads have been reduced from the Original loads by Speer in the 60’s manuals. Today I use the MAX load as my starting point most of the time. I don’t even reference manual velocity as they never match realistic loads of the...
Great rifle 760 in 270 win
Take a good look at IMR 4064 @ 49.5 with 130 grain Nosler Partition or Speer Grand Slam
But those 130gr Power Point will serve you well on deer . I prefer Winchester or Norma brass
I have always used RCBS Small base sizer die with Rem 742 and 760 and the Lee Factory...
30-30 Win
Grew up chasing bears in Western NC mostly behind plott hounds I My old 1953 Win 94 using WIn 170gr Silvertips were very popular. Still have my Winchester of my youth 50 years later ! Harvested several wild boars with that rifle in the 300 lb range best pork I have ever had.
