My sons shoots the 7mm-08 well and is comfortable with it. Shoot better than I did when I was 11. Gave him a CZ 22LR bolt action earlier. Only gave him a single feed mag and iron sights for a some time. He hopefully learned to shoot not spray for squirrels.

Is this thr 80 gr BT varmint? Would you use it at reduced velocity (2400 FPS from the barrel) for youth loads on deer sized animals? Or upgrade to a 85 gr PT?

Was looking at the bushnell scopes. The range has a silhouette area specific for 22 LR. Would be a fun way to spend the evening.
