    The Hawken gets it done

Took a nice doe this morning with my .50 Hawken. I had the sights replaced 2 years ago with some Williams FireSights, and they really make a difference for these old eyes. 370gr Maxiball put her straight on the ground.

    Copper fouling

If a cluttered desk is the sign of a cluttered mind, then what's an empty desk a sign of? 🤔

    Copper fouling

Well, there's a difference between powder/carbon fouling and copper fouling. What he's saying is, clean the powder fouling and don't worry about the copper fouling. And yes, I never clean my rifles until after the season is over, either. And when I shot smallbore competition in college, we...

    Best Brass Prep Station

Personally, I trim every time I load. With one of these devices, it's real easy and doesn't take long at all. After I resize, I just run it thru the stations on the prep center. Keeps everything uniform that way.

    Good deal on bullets

Just to be clear, the ones I mentioned were not seconds. I was just making the point that this price was better than you can usually get on the seconds.

    Best Brass Prep Station

This is the correct one, and it's still a very good price at $152, with free shipping. https://www.scheels.com/p/66112003156/?queryID=c3220221642ce768bfc5932b30c8307a

That's not the same tool. That's just the prep center, it doesn't have the trimmer part.

    Good deal on bullets

Anyone looking for bullets right now might want to give Midway a look. They have some items on clearance. I just found 6.5mm (.264) 130gr Sierra MatchKing's for $13.07 per box of 50. Can't hardly beat that on factory seconds. They may have other deals that y'all can use. I bought 8 boxes of...

Am I missing something here? Hodgdon isn't owned by Vista, are they?

    Best Brass Prep Station

That is a good price. FWIW, there is a guy out in Colorado who makes adapters to trim straight-wall brass in the FA trimmer.

    Imr 4064 130 gameking 6.5 creedmoor

Thank you. That falls exactly in line with the Sierra data, 37.6 max load. And if the predicted psi number is correct, that is just under the 62k pressure limit. If I can get good accuracy up around that 2750-2800 fps range, that should work nicely.

@DrMike I know this is an old thread, but I'm wondering if you would mind revisiting it? I've been working up some loads for my 6.5 CM Franchi, and next on my list were the Sierra 130gr GKHP bullets. I've used the 85gr GKHP's successfully in my .243 for deer, and these should be more of the...

Nothing wrong with the old 45 Colt at "woods" ranges, especially if you spice it up some.

    Tape over the muzzle?

Yeah, I always keep some kids' water balloons in my possibles bag. If the weather turns foul, slide one over the muzzle. The deer have never noticed the difference, lol.
