A fixed line attached to the tree with a sliding Prusik knot where you attach your harness tether is what's commonly called a "lifeline." As most accidents happen going up or down the tree, this is a great way to ensure that you don't fall to the ground if that happens. But then, you are left...
Not sure I understand your last question. You should always be wearing a harness and connected to a lifeline when you leave the ground. But what if you fall from the stand or ladder? Yes, the harness and lifeline will keep you from hitting the ground, but then what? If the stand has collapsed or...
I'm always looking for good ideas and ways to ensure that everyone comes back safely at the end of the day. We primarily hunt from ladder stands, and for the last 6 or 7 years all of our stands are equipped with lifelines. No one steps off the ground without being connected to the line. And that...
I've posted previously about my load development for my 6.5 CM Franchi Momentum. It really likes the 129gr Hornady SST over some Varget, at about 2800 fps. Went out today to zero the scope. I had it in the ballpark, just needed to finalize it. First shot, adjust, second shot, done. Accurate...
A chrono is worth its weight in gold for reloading. I can't say enough good things about my Garmin unit, and I'm sure the Athlon unit is good, as well. If you don't already have a chrono, those things are the ticket.
Hello, gang. I was gifted some various bullets by my uncle who was downsizing his reloading supply cabinet. One of the things he gave me was about 150 of the 140gr Partitions in 6.5 caliber. He used them in a .264 Win Mag, but my use would be in a 6.5 CM. Anyone here loading and using them in...
And yet, my Browning XBolt has a plastic rotary mag and it's slick as can be. There are no excuses for Ruger (I used to have one and I'm familiar with this issue).
Walked into my LGS this evening and they had more powder in stock than I have seen in a long, long time. I don't know if that's in anticipation of price increases, or it just happened to be that way. They had about a third of that when I was there last week.
@ReloadKy heads up for you. 🙂
I trim before every load, but I would need some real convincing that this unit is significantly better than my $170 FA trimmer (which I bought for $100).
It was always intended to be first and foremost a regional cartridge, to compete with the 350 Legend in a lever platform. The 350 has been around now for about 15 years or so, and there are now folks using it in places where straight wall cartridges are not required. As long as 35 cal bullets...
I remember you talking about that, Guy. I guess I just haven't found the sweet spot for mine yet. Some loads that were ok, just not good enough to get me excited. I've heard some good things about these FTX bullets, tho, so thought I'd give them a try.
Odd that none of the brass makers are...
