The powder builds velocity very smoothly. There were no spikes whatsoever. I’ll get a picture of the page from my load book to show it. No bumps along the way at all.
Been a while with my 7mm Rem Mag but I got a little over 3k fps from a 26” X-Caliber barrel and a 76.5 grain charge of LRT today with 175 grain ELD-X bullets loaded to 3.335” OAL, .020” off the lands. I didn’t get any pressure indications but didn’t try and push higher, and was happy with the...
Send me a hundred or so bullets and I’ll coat them. You can load them and see how they perform for you. I don’t want anything to do it. I’ll send them back, and Maybe they’ll work for you.
Give the Tubbs HBN kit a try. Its inexpensive and a good way to get started. It doesn't have the steel BB's but they are verry cheep on Amazon if you want to use them. It will make a bullet squirt out of your fingers like wet watermelon seed.
I coat all my loaded bullets with HBN. I use .5 micron HBN and place small steel BB's in the jar with the bullets. It doesn't hurt the bullets and the steel BB's imbeds the HBN in the jacket surface more efficiently. I get little to no copper fouling, a small boost in velocity, and lower...
Just finished watching the Alpine Biathlon. Man they are good to say the least. Over an hour of cross country skiing with their rifle slung across their back. Oh, and along the way they have to stop and shoot multiple times and targets with better accuracy than I’ve seen at some PRS matches...
I really like the 150gr GD’s in my 308 Win. Great deer bullet. They hold together great and are very consistent. Speer did have troubles with pressure spikes to begin with. Then they started coating the GD ‘s with HBN and that salved the problem. That’s why they have the matte finish from the...
In my opinion Nosler’s load data is always quite generous with their velocities. Try to load to their stated velocity with a chronograph, watching closely for signs of excess pressure.
Haven’t tried Ramshot Grand, but bought two 8 pounders of Staball HD. Both are St Marks powders newly released. I’m going to be working with it this spring in a 270 WSM, and a 7mm Rem Mag. Load data suggests it will give good velocity and hopefully be consistent. I just cracked the seal on the...
In addition, I was getting 3127 fps from a 24” barrel, with 130gr Partitions loaded over 56 grains of Staball 6.5.
130gr E-Tips at 3150 fps loaded over 61 grains of RL26. Work up carefully with E-Tips, they will build pressure very quickly.
Lastly, I was getting 3060 fps with 145gr ELDX loaded...
57 grains of IMR4831 with a 130gr NBT has been the accuracy load for 3 different 270’s I’ve owned through the years. It’s a nice load to factory specs, 3000 fps, not a red line load.
You have a lot of room to work with from 53.2 grains of N160. About 5 grains worth. What was your velocity with the 130gr Accubond, as it seems like a very light load.
