Great write up and had me going right along with you. Terrible about the mix up on guns and luggage but great that being with other handgun hunters paid off. Thanks for sharing your hunt with us.
Not a 308Win but I have loaded for a friend's BAR 30-06 using Sierra 180gr GameKing and H4895 without any problems of stability. Don't know the twist in that rifle nor if the same twist is used for 308 or 30-06. Used a full-length size die and each piece of brass fed and cycled perfectly. He...
Sorry Don. Continued prayers for you and your family. Not cancer related but my mom, sister and brother-in-law were under hospice care. They are wonderful caring people.
In my Rem 700 with 24 in Douglas barrel I load 59.5grs RL26 150gr Nosler BT Fed 210 primer gives 3045FPS. Could go to 60.5 grs but didn't see the need. 59.5grs gives .5835 in group and no pressure problems. Works for me. Dan.
Have both. Replaced the Limb Saver that deteriorated with another Limb Saver on my Rem 700 CDL 35 Whelen and am well pleased with it. Had a Pachmyer put on my 30-06 and it works well also. Both good.
There is a ton of info on the Traditional Muzzle Loading Forum. As for shooting round balls thru a smooth bore most do use a patch you just try different thickness to see which combination gives best accuracy. If you plan on shooing round balls in this gun I would recommend not thru that full...
Not the news you wanted to hear. He has given it a great fight. Setting here lifting up prayers for him and all your family in this difficult time. Hoping he and all your family have placed your faith and trust in Jesus.
Had a Navy Arms T&T double barrel muzzleloader shotgun back in the 80s. I used 90grs of Pyrodex , 1 1/4 oz of shot. Powder first, over powder card, cushion wad, shot then thin overshot card. Patterned descent killed one nice gobbler at about 32 yds. Stock didn't fit me really well so traded it...
Well, on a similar note, I pulled a real boner this morning. Loaded up some for a ladder test in that CVA Cascade Heavy Varmint. Had them properly marked on my data sheet. Got the bright idea that I would load all of them up in the ten round magazine to check function while recording the...
I try to get both accuracy and speed but if the accuracy is less than top end load well, that works for me. Achieving both is something you just keep working towards with different calibers and their rifles.
Thursday my wife had a dental appointment. On the way home I stopped by couple of gun shops that I hadn't been in for awhile. Had been looking for a new range toy so to speak without breaking the bank and in a caliber that I was already setup to load for. Found something of interest in the...
Saw this yesterday. Hadn't heard of them before. Guess I missed the reason, but what makes them seconds? I think I would take the wait and see attitude on these before making a purchase.
I've been retired for eight years. I'm like Bachman Turner Overdrive sang in Taking Care of Business," I love to work at nothing all day". Not a couch potato, stay active just not working for money. Appreciate being able to go to the range, shoot, help work on projects, family and that sort of...
