My wife shot a couple of crop damage does with a 140 gr Sierra TGK from her Weatherby Carbonmark in 6.5 Wby RPM. Her bullet is doing north of 3000 fps and her impacts were 3” below the white dot. Both were DRT.

I agree! I have other powders that are in metal and cardboard containers like W760 and H110. They have always been in a cool dry environment. That’s why I believe it’s a chemistry issue.

It sounds like that powder has a chemistry issue for long term stability.
I last year I finished of an 8 lb tin jug of High Score 700X shotgun powder that was from the early 1980’s. Not a single dud or hangfire, they all fired on the trap field. The only problem was they didn’t all break the...
PTs are accurate and capable of sub .5 MOA with the right loads and rifle.
Here’s a recent load I worked up with a 300 gr PT seconds in my 375 H&H Magnum. The 3 shot group went .803”.

Probably not but it would depend on the powder and charge weight. I’d invest in a new powder measure, especially if you are loading upper end loads.

Just an FYI…
I shot a couple of crop damage deer with the 142 gr ABLR from the 6.5 Wby RPM at 3050 fps. Distances were 200 and 300 yds. Both were DRT. The 200 yd doe had the bullet under the hide in the off side rib cage.
The 142 gr ABLR should really work well in your 6.5 PRC.

Nice work Don.
We have been rebuilding our aqua gate that had failed. Put in a second barrier with sheet pile and reattached the 12” tile. I still need to add a couple buckets of rock. Bring on the rain!

I use the 250 gr AB in the 338 RUM as my go to bullet for crop damage deer hunting. It performed flawlessly on countless deer, internal trauma and golf ball size exits.
The 150 gr AB out of a 308 Win will open up nicely on deer size game.

Either one will work just fine. I’d pick the one that shoots the best. You can also use the Ballistic Tip. Grab some seconds to some cost savings and you can use them for practice.

You are gonna love the 280 Remington. It’s a great round with a lot of potential.
I pretty much ran 140’s in my 280 Remington on top of RL19 and IMR/H4831 for 3000 fps.
The 140 BT accounted for several WT deer, mostly DRT.
