    Shot my G40

No, I didn't want an RMR on it. I could see the merit to it, but for a carry gun, I didn't want to. I use it as a defensive carry woods gun....it's shorter than my Smith 57 6", and lighter, packs almost as much oomph with 9 10 more rounds capacity, and a longer sight radius. Loaded it weighs...

    Shot my G40

I like it a lot! I really enjoy shooting it. Was just at the range on Friday, actually, shooting some steel plates with it. The range where I go has a steel pistol range, and it's bordered by concrete walls, and has a roof over top. The 10-mil makes its presence known in there when you light it...

    Daughter had a short season

I stitched together this pic. I may have it printed/framed, since one like this doesn't happen often.... Megan's is the top deer, obviously. My buck and my dad's, both from archery season this year, are underneath. My grandfather never killed a buck in my lifetime, so this is the first time in...

    Speer 250 grain. .358 bullets

I've shot a couple of whitetails with the 250HC and been very pleased. For some reason, I got it in my head that I just had to flip that rifle to a 250PT, and it worked out fine, but I have a pretty good stock (several hundred) of the 250HC as well.

    Pheasant!

That's very cool. I need to book a pheasant hunt soon....

    My 2017 Buck

Beautiful buck! Makes me sad I benched my Whelen this year. I can feel it’s accusatory stares already....

    She got it done

That’s a great picture! Well done!

    Daughter had a short season

My middle one is not a hunter. She does shoot a bow, but just to shoot... which is fine. My youngest I think has some potential to be a hunter. She’s 6. It’ll take a couple more years to know more clearly.

    Daughter had a short season

It’s her third deer, second buck, fourth hunting season. She’s done quite well. She could have killed a buck last year too, but her chance came with two small bucks that she decided not to take. Easy shots, though. We are very fortunate to have access to productive private land, which helps...

    Daughter had a short season

Thanks, all. DrMike, this is her second buck with that 7-wizzum and her third deer (she got a doe with her late great-grandfathers featherweight 257 bob for her first deer). I was by her side for all three. Soon she'll be hunting solo. While I'm excited to watch her develop as a hunter...

    Daughter had a short season

Shooting time officially began at 6:35AM today on the 2017 Pennsylvania rifle deer season. At 6:40AM, this happened... One shot at 125 yards with her 7mmWSM and a 140PT and that buck hit the dirt. No deer I've ever shot has compared to how it felt to hear her rifle bark and watch that...

    Small 8 point whitetail

Nice buck and nice rifle! I'd love to kill a buck with my long rifle, but I'd have to keep my tag till flintlock season, and I just don't have it in me to skip archery season!

150 BT vs. the "Shoulder Joint"

Great info...I've got a good load in my 270 for both the 150BT and the 150PT. I won't pull down the 30 or so BT-loaded rounds I have. I'll zero on that load again and hunt with it, just cuz.

    Pennsylvania archery buck

Last few years, I’ve been seeing rut activity into the first week of rifle, so keep at it! I’m likely not shooting any more deer, but not hunting with my flintlock will be difficult. I may look for someone who will either butcher their own or pay the bill that I can just drop off a dressed deer...

    Pennsylvania archery buck

It’s been suggested that the taxidermist could reproduce the broken tine. I have mixed feelings on that. Not sure I’d want to do it, but then again, he did in fact grow the point so it’s not putting anything there that wasn’t grown by the deer. But it’s not how he was when I shot him. I have...

    Pennsylvania archery buck

Charles, I may have a picture of that deer. There was an 8pt in my yard in late summer that was conclusively bigger than this deer. But was clearly an 8pt, so no chance the pics we took were of this deer. That deer was several inches wider and much taller. This buck I took is 16 3/4” inside...

    Pennsylvania archery buck

Yes, he’s a 10. Wish he wasn’t such a fighter and hadn’t cracked off his one G2, but I’m not complaining, lol. I skinned and quartered him yesterday. He is really scarred and scraped from fighting. I’ve never seen a deer this scraped up before. And yes, my oldest hunts with me, but she hunts...

    Pennsylvania archery buck

Long story shorter, I shot a nice buck on my own land last night. The shot went a little awry, so after finding him alive but very sick and unable to get up, I backed out, waited about 3-4 hours, and came back to a very dead buck who was so stiff and cold he likely died just after I backed away...

Young Girl Bullied Over an Elk

I personally liked when my then 13 yr old daughter showed the "girls don't hunt" boys at school pictures of her buck and they had not killed bucks. That was a nice way to shut the morons' mouths. And hopefully at that age, teach them something before it was too late.

    .41 mag hunting load

Another one here using 210jhp’s and a decent shot of h110. Haven’t shot anything with it yet, however.
