It was tough to get good images of this little one and it's sibling who is out of view in this shot. Distance required the 500mm = 1.4 tc and light caused a much higher ISO than I would have preferred but with wildlife you get what they give.
My wife and I managed to get away last weekend and spend a couple of days just riding through Cades Cove in The Great Smokey Mountains National Park.
We saw lot of animals, bear, whitetail deer and turkey and of course the beautiful scenery. Here is one of the shots I managed to come home with.
With the rare snow here in Georgia and the reflected light caused by it I had very even light from my porch toward the bird feeder and pasture to the south. Usually the birds are backlit when in this area. Anyway it allowed me to break out the 500mm and play for awhile Friday.
This was really just a quick "grab" shot. I was working on building a new mailbox stand after someone took out our brick mailbox. My wife came out on the porch and said "We have a rainbow" so sawdust and all I grabbed the Canon 6D and 70-200 lens (the newer 5DmkIV had the 500 mm on it for any...
This yearling and his mom and sibling were hanging around the same area for the two days. This one was the last to come down from the tree and decided this was the way to do it.
Well it's that time of year here in the south and the Smoky Mountain National Park. The bear are out and about more than during colder weather (They don't truly hibernate here in the southeast) and new cubs are finding their way around the "new" world they live in. Moms and last years cubs are...
I got a new (to me) camera body a few weeks ago and am still playing around with it a little at a time when I can.
The other morning I was sitting on the front porch drinking my coffee and trying to get a humming bird to cooperate and then the storm clouds started to roll past to the...
Made it to the Smokey Mountains NP a week ago. Not as colorful or lush foliage as there will be a little later in the year but the heavy rains we have had lately have the streams and cascades running full.
What handguns will you be hunting with this season.
I have my 4” S&W 586, contender 357 magnum, and BCG custom XP100 25 Creedmoor ready. I still have to load ammo for the XP100R 260 Remington. I might try to work in the S&W 629 44 mag or the Bisley Blackhawk 45 Colt but I don’t see open sights...
This one was taken at the bottom of my driveway in the field between my drive and my brothers house. It's twin was just a few yards away and of course mom was close by.
I almost forgot to post this one here.
