Working up a load for a friend in 28 Nosler.
RL-33 is doing great with 195 Berger EOLs.
Problem is that RL-33 is scarce as hen's teeth.
Anyone tried WC872? My buddy HTDUCK on here used it in his 7mm STW with great success. Similar cartridge . . .
Looking for powder options for the...
Good afternoon, fellas. Haven't been around in a while.
BUT . . . the RADD has kicked in, and I'm pondering a new toy. I'm going to buy a donor Rem 700 long action from a buddy, and looking for calibers that I "need". :)
With all the recent hype about the .224 Valkyrie, I thought - why...
I've been doing barrel break-in and load development on my Dad's Mauser 98 re-barrel. It is a 26" X-caliber 8 twist. Seems like it wants to be a shooter.
Anyway, I shot 50 rounds of new Norma brass on Saturday during break-in. Then on Sunday I sized, trimmed, and started doing load...
Anyone have a cheat sheet for the Sinclair bump inserts? Looking them up on the Sinclair site didn't help. Just shows part numbers.
I knew I should have recorded the couple I have. Trying to remember which calibers are marked 17A and 20A.
If memory serves, one of them is '06 and one of...
A couple of months ago, I went in search of a load for my Dad's .264mag after doing some barrel work to get rid of an excessive headspace problem.
I had tried the usual suspect powders, but nothing wanted to shoot. Dad was determined on shooting the 120gr Sierra flat base bullets.
I posted on...
Could someone run a QL on the 264mag for me, with a 120gr Sierra SPT ProHunter (#1720)
I had some work done on my Dad's rifle, and I know there are better bullet choices, but that's his darling so I'm going to do a load workup.
Thanks!

Deer season isn't even over yet, and I'm already thinking about what to build next. Dang RADD.
After hunting in the timber in Missouri again this year I'm seriously thinking about building a 20" or 21" lightweight .308Win on a Rem700 SA. 30cal is the only caliber that I don't have in...
The rifle:
Mauser 98 action
Shilen 22" barrel in .25-06 1:10 twist

Federal GM215M primer
52.3gr H4831SC
115gr Berger VLD Hunting, seated 0.005 from lands
2950fps according to my Oehler 35P
This rifle had given me problems in the past, discovered it had excessive headspace...
This is the rifle I've been putting together for my daughter. Picked her up last night. Can't wait for the weekend range time.
.260 Ackley Improved
Stainless Remington 700 Long Action, trued
26" Shilen Select Match barrel #5 contour 1:8
3-gill brake (by our own IdahoCTD, thanks...
Just got word from my gunsmith that my daughter's 260AI will be ready next week. So, time to get working on some fire form loads to do barrel break-in.
I have a surplus of 120gr Ballistic Tips (also shoot them in my 6.5 Grendel) so this is what I'll use to form brass and possibly...
Does anyone happen to have a 129gr ABLR, and could measure the length and length to ogive for me?
I'm just curious, to compare vs. 130,140gr Berger VLDs.
The box of 130gr Bergers I have show 0.612 to the ogive according to my comparator
Thanks!

I've just about gathered all the groceries for my .260AI build, and wondering about chamber dimensions.
It's a chicken and egg kind of thing - I can't make a 260AI dummy round to send to my gunsmith until I can fireform brass. So, looking for advice on what instructions to give him. I want...
I'm putting together my grocery list to build my daughter a .260AI. This will be a dual purpose rifle - both for deer and long range target (steel, rocks, etc.) It's going to be on a Remington 700 action, and that's where my question starts.
For the folks that have a 260AI on a short action...
Looking for a 700 Left hand, Short action. Remington or Stiller, etc.
Prefer stainless, but open to blued. I know - needle in a haystack but you never know.
Building my daughter a .260AI.
I received my barreled action from McGowen last month, and put her together.
Stainless 26" #4 contour, fluted 1:9 twist
Holland's recoil lug
B&C M40 stock
I did my fire-forming and barrel break-in, and some abbreviated load development with 140 Accubonds and RL-22 powder. Started at 62...
I don't post alot over here, but many of you probably know HTDUCK. He is a good friend, hunting buddy and, in general a bad infulence. You know that little devil that sits on you shoulder and keeps the RADD stirred up? well, mine bears a striking resemblance to Howard.
After he built...
I have a .25-06 built on a Mauser 98.
Last year, while working up a new powder/load I had a case head separation. So this spring I'm going back to square one on my workup with all new brass. In the past, I had never measured the shoulder bump, just adjusted the full length die to kiss the...
