    And another .45 Super-again

Yep it's a never ending process. The newest one is a switch barrel so I can shoot it in matches and hunt with it. Using a Storm lake barrel that I had Mag-Na-Port do their magic on it is shooting 1" to 1.5" at 25 yards depending on the load. I switch barrels for ACP and it shoots about that...

G22MOS now set up as well.

Many of you know I have killed tons of deer with .40 S&W using proper ammo. I use them like bow hunting. Shots are limited to 50 yards and I have never had an issue. I also shoot GSSF matches so some of my guns are combination hunters and match guns. I recently got a G22MOS gen 5. I...

    Skeeter Skelton's .41 Redhawk got a hog

A few weeks ago several of us handgun hunters converged on West Virginia to put our handguns to work. I used Skeeter's Redhawk to kill a sow that was around 200 lbs. Everyone had a great time.

Button buck with Larry Crow .44

I carried a custom .44 Magnum built by Larry Crow Friday. I shot a button buck at 25 yards (thought it was a big doe) and made the only shot it gave me which was a neck shot. The gun will shoot.

    The 260 strikes again-again

The last day of season I got to hunt I carried the .260 out again. It did what it does. 160 yards and a big bodied buck. The gun is a hammer.

38/44 Headed to the woods again

I have my 1933 HD Micro-Sight custom running like a Swiss Watch. Carrying my ammo in an original Al Goerg cartridge carrier and hollow pointing the 173 Keith's with an original Al Goerg hollow pointer. I have carried it once this year and heading out again Saturday.

Deer with Larry Crow custom .44 Magnum

Saturday evening I carried a SBH custom built by Larry Crow. Pretty cool gun. Octagon barrel, Jim Stroh front sight, Millet rear, free spin pawl, action work, Taylor throated, .0015" cylinder gap......the list goes on but a cool piece I was sent for review. I literally got home with it...

My son broke in his 260 Encore

Matt shot a nice plump doe with his 260 Encore Friday. 81 yards with a 125 grain Partition.

    400 Cor-Bon is running

To start from the beginning I had one of my hair brain ideas to use modern technology to make the 400 relevant. The problem with the 400 was it wouldn't match a 10mm once bullets weight exceeds 155 grains. The 10mm operates at higher pressure. The 400 has higher case capacity but SAAMI pressure...

    450 Encore Scored

Thanksgiving morning I shot a nice fat 8pt with my 450 Marlin Encore. No tracking involved.

    416 Taylor is running

Update on the .416. Scope is mounted. I could only get 3 rings on it. If I catch it slipping I will mill another slot on the base and add a ring. It is a blast to shoot. Literally. It’s like a stick of dynamite going off right in front of you. I am trying to decide which bullet to sight it in...

Matchdot II Red and Green on 441 and 10MM Glock

I got to play with some some Ultradot Matchdot II sights. One red and one green. These things are the real deal. Optical quality of the glass is light years ahead of any other dot sights I have used. They have numerous options for the dot sizes and brightness settings. They have a couple of...

    Update the .450 Marlin

I meant to come back and post about that monster. It turned out that 1200-R which thankfully I have (not available right now) will sling the 300 Speer 2457 fps from the 15" barrel. This load is right at the 43,000 psi threshold. In other words 4022 foot pounds from a handgun. Loaded like that...

    Time for another Encore.

I have the itch again. This one is going to be a .416 Taylor pistol. Gathering parts now and waiting on the new frames to come out. It probably won't be as brutal as the 450 Marlin pistol launching 300 grains 2457 fps. It will be able to take advantage of the higher BC bullets. I just got a...

    2024 Deer season

Hunting 2024 in review Kill 1. The deer was a 3.5 year old 10 point buck. Live weight was slightly under 200 lbs but my scale was acting up. From experience I will call him 180 lbs. Live weight. I used my .260 Encore handgun loaded with 140 Nosler Partitions at 2420 fps. The buck was 88 yards...

    Big Doe with 10mm

Saturday I carried the one of my project Glocks, a 10mm to the woods. I was using CEB Raptors for the first time in the gun. The 120 grain is as long as a 200 grain XTP. The velocity was 1434 fps. At 25 yards the guns shoots ragged holes with these bullets. The shot was 59 yards and I shot her...

.260 and 140 grain partition do it again.

The .260 Encore just keeps getting it done. The load is a 140 grain partition over 44.5 grains H4831SC in Starline brass lit by a GM210M primer. 2420 fps from the 15" barrel. The gun shoots like a bench rest rifle. Never had to track anything shot with it.

    Shooting GSSF matches G24

I shot the last round of local indoor matches with my G24 that had barely been fired before that. Its a blast. Doing it again in November. I am going to shoot one of my hunting Glocks in Unlimited and the G24 in stock. Good practice for shootouts with hogs.

    Going Retro this year

I like old stuff. Can't help it. I collect old guns and shoot a lot of them. This year I am making a concerted effort to kill something with some of them. In particular my 1931 38-44 Heavy duty that was customized after WWII by Micro Sight. Someone added the smooth S&W target grips probably late...

    The Little 44 is running

I finally got to shoot the little 44 after getting the other sight from Fermin Garza installed. I sighted it at 25 yards. Still didn't make it to shoot 100 yards yet. This gun will probably never see any light loads. It was bought with 3 purposes in mind. Packing for hog hunting, tree stand...
