Didn't draw anything, so I'll be doing general fall black bear and possibly a predation cow tag. Will be using the R700 7-300 Win mag with 180g ELDMs at 3000fps. 28" Bartlein w/4 port brake, A5 McMillan, and a NF NXS 5-22x.
How anyone gets a 125 yard shot on a president these days is beyond mind boggling. Then you have cops running around like ding dongs looking for the shooter on the ground, when the bystanders were clearly pointing and yelling on the roof...To me, it all sounds like everyone did nothing so it...
Looking good right out the gate. Shooting an accurate 22 is way more fun than it ought to be. It's not exactly cheap per se, but then again nothing really is these days is it? Still cheaper than centerfire, and every bit as fun! No time spent handloading, or replacing outrageous component...
As much as I love the 25/06, it just makes more sense these days to have a 6.5/06...It just does everything better. I'll probably do a 6.5/06 with a 26" tube after my 6 creed shoots out for a LR coyote/steel rifle. But then I have the brass issue...haha
Shot some 53g vmax over Benchmark and 73g ELDM over IMR8208XBR yesterday. Loaded the 53s to 2.260" and the 73s to 2.3" in ASC mags. These were the winners. Good enough for a gasser with Hornadys and throwing some loads together. Not going to mess much more with it. 1/2 MOA with an AR in my mind...
Meh, good enough for Hornady bullets haha. I've done just about all I can with em and this is the best I can do. I'm tired of messing with it already. Taken 150 rounds to get to this point. Ready to start having fun with the rifle now.
Loaded up 10 rounds to shoot a 10 shot group at 100 yards. Figured if it went 1 MOA or better I'd run with it. First 5 were a ragged hole, then had a couple stragglers, followed by the rest in the same hole. 8 shots went 1/2" with the other 2 making it .85" Velocity is 2975fps. I blame Hornady...
If you're getting 1 MOA 8 shot groups from factory ammo and a factory rifle than that's really good. You'll be able to get that from handloads, but it may take a little bit of work is all. Where is the target with 8 shot group at 1"? I must have missed it or didn't see it.
Never owned a 308...
Ok, that all makes sense now. Ya I'm not spending $90 on a mag either. Cavity back bullets is suppose to have some modified mags PRI I think that you can get out further, but they're out of stock most of the time. I think they're around $45-50 also. I can't remember how far you can get out with...
It's a national match free floated tube already. I bought it from a guy who used it at Camp Perry for a few matches. He guaranteed it to shoot 1/2 MOA as is because he's done it numerous times. He told me he took 2nd place with it. So with that said, I don't believe I'm handicapped at all with...
I'm hoping. Been at it awhile trying to get rid of the 2 and 1 out thing. Ready to start the real fun of 300-1K dope confirmation and then it's just banging steel and killing dogs. Also a 900 yard PRS style shoot in a couple weeks I'd like to attend. But need to get the load and drop chart...
Well I got the 5 rounders specifically so I can use it for coyote hunting on public/BLM ground just in case...I have a couple 10 and 30 round polymer mags for private ground use. Honestly probably won't use them hi capacity mags much anyway. No mag dumps and unnecessary throat wear here. If I...
Here are the mags. They look decent to me. Tac welds are good. Function ok, pop in and out just fine. Should be able to get 2.315" out of them from my crude measurements anyway.
Just got back from the range with another seating depth test. Did 3 shot groups at 5 to 40 off in 5 increments. Hoping 25 off is repeatable as it's 1/4 MOA with an ES of 7.
