    entry/mid level binoculars

Well this went from staying to $300 or under to Swaro, Zeiss, and Leica real fast haha In your price range, I bought a set of 10x42 Nikon ProStaff 7s for like $200. I honestly don't use binocs that much, as I just use my Swaro RF for glassing and ranging. But those Nikons really aren't too bad...

6.5/06 AI 500 yard ladder results

Ya my FF loads through my BRA are only around 2725fps as well. They still shoot very good though! Keep us posted. I'm very curious to see where it ends up! Are you going for the lower node around 2850 or trying for the higher node around 2950? I've been running the lower 2850 node with 108 ELDMs...

6.5/06 AI 500 yard ladder results

You can start when you get it to get a rough idea, but I typically don't get serious about it until I have 100 rounds down the barrel. Gives it a chance to break in and speed up, also I like to have my brass fire formed to the chamber. Those 2 little things usually end up needing tweaked...

6.5/06 AI 500 yard ladder results

Not always the case. Just because a load produces the smallest ES/SD doesn't always translate to the smallest group or groups. A lot of times it is quite the opposite actually in my experience. There are times when you get lucky and achieve both fairly quickly, but not always. I'm the type...

6.5/06 AI 500 yard ladder results

When I look back through my notes and targets, I would say I'm correct. If you like wasting time and components on large sample sizes, that is fine. Do it your way. Id rather do a simple 2 shot ladder and do follow up confirmation. Only be in it 20-25 rounds. I mean it obviously works, the...

6.5/06 AI 500 yard ladder results

Thanks fellas. Makes it easy when you have a great rifle put together with quality parts. Like I said will probably shoot a few more groups just so I can make sure I'm in the middle of this node. 57.5-57.8 is definitely a good spot to be, so I will try 58.1 just to see if it overlaps with...

6.5/06 AI 500 yard ladder results

Here's tonight's groups from the 57-58 area. I went with 57.2/57.5/57.8 at 500 yards. Pretty happy with it. All 3 groups were right at or around 2.5" or 1/2 MOA. The POI from the 57.5/57.8 were pretty much on top of each other versus the lower 57.2 charge. Might reshoot 57.5/57.8/58.1...

6.5/06 AI 500 yard ladder results

Good to know! I'll keep that in mind as a back up to the 7-300 Win Mag with 180g ELDMs at 3K also. I think I'm really going to enjoy this 6.5/06 AI That new 4 port Beast brake of yours is great also. Makes shooting very easy. Recoil is less than a 243.

6.5/06 AI 500 yard ladder results

It's only been 80 here the last few days which is nice. Definitely going to reshoot 57-58g as I think that's a good spot to be. Those 6 shots were 3.5" spread over a grain, with 5 going into 1.75". Doubt I'm going to do much exploring on the 60g 3100+ side of things. No need for it. These 147s...

6.5/06 AI 500 yard ladder results

I did not draw any tags. I procrastinated until the last day, and then got stuck at work, so didn't even get to put in. I'm going to buy a fall black bear this week and deprivation cow tag, so I'll still be able to get out and hunt.

6.5/06 AI 500 yard ladder results

Definitely going to reshoot 57-58g I think that's a pretty safe bet for a decent node. Those 6 shots were 3.5" and the 5 went into 1.75"

6.5/06 AI 500 yard ladder results

I'm going to respectfully disagree with that. This works for many of us that do it. It gives a great deal of data and starting point without wasting a bunch of time, components and barrel life. I've found 1K loads this way in all my rifles the last 10 years with under 40 rounds fired at most. I...

6.5/06 AI 500 yard ladder results

Well here's the results from the 500 yard ladder testing tonight. 2" target dot for the POA. I think 57-58 is gonna be where I end up. Plenty accurate and right at 3000-3025 fps. Lower node just overall shoots better and more consistent. I don't need to push it, and my winchester brass will be a...

No dominant eye- anybody else have this experience?

Both eyes open is fine, and better in my opinion anyway. You can see a lot more going around that way. I've been shooting rifle/pistol with both eyes open since HS when I found out I was left eye dominant, but shoot right handed.

    Where have the gunsmiths gone?

A lot of backyard smiths who claim they're smiths...Doesn't mean much to me really. If you're anything like me and want the best for your rifles, you source a highly recomended smith who takes pride in their work and does it right the first time. A lot of smiths specialize in a certain area...

    QL request 6.5/06 AI

Finally got all my cases fireformed for the 6.5/06 Ackley. I only lost 2 out of 97 which I thought was pretty good. Now it's time to start a ladder test and load development with H1000 and 147g ELDMs. I was planning on starting at 57g and going up to 60g in .5g increments. If someone could run a...

Looks like they have an extra 15% off promo deal on top of that also right now, which brings it down to $2550. That's a pretty dang good deal on that optic.

The Razor has better glass and a bigger eyebox on max power according to most who've done side by side tests. Both are top tier scopes with great tracking and durabity. You can also get the Razor for like $2500, or a nice used one for $2K. That makes it a no brainer in my opinion. I don't...
