As other have already talked about, when you neck size only the case is already approx the exact deminsions of the chamber in the gun. If you shoot hot loads or reload multiple times without full length resizing then everntually you will end up with a case that is hard to extract or worse yet a...
I had similar experience with a batch of .260 brass. The only thing I noticed was that the primer pocket was slightly deeper than normal. Every other batch I've shot worked fine. I don't think I would try try to re-shoot the round. If something is wrong with the round just pull the bullet and...
Thanks for the info, I really don't need a another manual. I've already got 4-5, but never got a Speer. The 10mm load is really the only speer load I needed. My only other speer bullets are TNT in .223 and .260. I've already got loads I like with those bullets.
I like 41gn of varget with 100 gn bullets (BT or Part). For heavier bullets I've found that H414 (nosler max) works the best. All loads max COL. If your barrel is shorter than 14" the faster burning varget may work better with the heavier bullets for you.
Nope. I reach for the 260 when I'm after meat. But a buddy has used the 60 gn part on hogs. Complete pass through broadside on a 200lb hog out of a 14" contender barrel. Unsure of his MV.
I have a 15" encore barrel. I get 2700 ft/s with 22.5 grains of benchmark. Not max load, but best group. I usually figure on 40 ft/s loss per inch. More loss with slower burning powders and large volume/diameter cartridges. Hope this helps.
I shot 2 deer this last year with the 100 BT at 2750ft/s out of my 15" encore. Both less than 50 yards. On the buck the bullet blew up on a rib and did not touch the off side rib cage, but did rip open the top half of his heart. He ran 10-15 yards and fell over dead. On the doe, complete pass...
Wish I had some great advice, but I don't. My 15" barrel is from foxridge and its shoots better than I do. I use varget powder with 0.5 grains less than max in my 120BT and 125PT loads. Even in the hot Oklahoma sun on 100 degree days the primers aren't cratered. The throat is about the same as...
Ditto last reply. Expect to experiment. I like to start with the longest round that will smoothly feed through the gun's action (assuming that its not much over SAAMI max OAL). Then I work back in increments of .005" until I find the right spot. Generally I have to adjust back some, but usually...
The key is having the right amount of tension on the bullet so that it is able to slide further into the case without wobbling around. You need a fired case, and try to do a partial neck size only. Seat your bullet long and put it in the gun. As you close the action on your gun the bullet comes...
