That sounds like a great dinner Gerry! Thank you and your wife for the hospitality of letting me stay a night at your place on my way north to Alaska!
Then Dr Mike hosted me overnight on my trip home a couple of weeks later. :)
Except for a few short day-trips into southern BC with my...
I know that hunt was a while ago, but I finally managed to get it onto our Youtube channel - and since it involves Nosler Partitions, I thought it rated mention here.
There's also a written article, with more details than the video. Same link.

Tough stuff right there. It's hard to lose a good dog. You made a wise decision.
Am sure that I'm on my last dog now. Not looking forward to his last day.

I'm sorry that Alaska didn't work out for you. It's an incredible place. High hopes for your future, be it in New Mexico or elsewhere.
All the best, Guy
Today I put a new sight on my 5" S&W 629. I replaced the factory red-ramp front sight with a slightly taller, narrower Dawson Precision fiber-optic sight. It only took me about two minutes with no tools. I needed taller for the 300 grain ammo, and the more narrow front sight provides more "air"...
Have fun with the new drahthaar, they are high energy and can be quite a handful, particularly in that first year. Incredibly strong hunting drive... I've owned German Wirehaired Pointers for about 10 years now, two different dogs and trained a third. They're pretty close to the same thing as a...
I think that I still have those expanded bullets, the Swift and the Hornady stashed here in a drawer under my loading bench, all these years later. I'll see about finding them and photographing them again so I don't have to rely on those old photobucket images.

Ya, a bunch of components are difficult to get anymore. :( Here's a screenshot of Hodgdon's data for it, if you find some. I think I'm out of H 4198 too.
Note that Hodgdon lists loads for the Marlin 1895 that are a fair bit higher pressure than many other sources. They have worked fine for...
I never did a fitting session. I have noticed over the years that my shooting is mediocre with some shotguns. Pick up a different one - and wow! It's magic. Suddenly I'm hitting very well.
The one that surprised me the most was the semi-auto Beretta A 390. Big, black, ugly gun. Synthetic...
I worked up to 50 grains of H4198. That was from a 22" Marlin 1895. It's stout, but below max for the 350 gr Hornady. I suspect that the pure copper jacket on the Swift bullet is "stickier" and didn't want to go above higher with the powder charge because of that.
That was back in 2011... I've...
I have shot 350 gr Swift A-Frames from a lever action Marlin! They did very well.
All the way back in 2011:

And there's at least one more report by another forum member on those fine bullets. They're pretty doggone...
Perhaps you didn't read "lever actions" ?
It's not misleading at all.
That is safe in lever actions. I've shot it in three different Marlin lever action 1895's and a Henry lever action as well. Rifles are fine, as am I.
