I use the Berry's 124 Grain for my 9MM's. Been through more than a few of them. I do all my shooting outside at this point. When I was a range officer on the PD the Town had built us a new indoor range and tried to save some money by putting in a recirculating air system and of course myself and...
Bruce, you'll be interested in this. I qualified for my HR-218 yesterday and shot my P365XL to insure that I could carry that particular gun. I spoke with the Sergeant in Charge and asked him about the restriction of only carrying the gun you shoot for qualification. Very knowledgeable person...
Jim, my Neice has lost two horses over the years both of which served her admirably. It's a big part of your life that can't be replaced. I've lost animals I have considered part of the family and it's like a piece of your heart leaves with them.
Thanks Bruce, I questioned it because I originally was being certified by an individual who did not use a specific firearm. Now that I'm being qualified by the Sheriff's Department it's a specific firearm that is written down on your card. This is Florida.
I've been reloading for many years with a single stage press. In the past I loaded a "lot" of 45's but now I'm strictly with 9MM. I know it's a lot slower process with the single stage but I normally load 100 rounds at a sitting which takes roughly 1 1/2 hrs. The advantage is when I load 50...
Good shooting Guy. That will keep you warmed up for your HR-218 qualification. Question for you. I did not know that the gun you use for qualifying the HR-218 is the gun you have to carry. I always assumed it was any semi auto firearm. Tucked back in the rules and regulations is a comment that...
I switched from a Red dot to a Green dot and find it is much better during the daytime. Where Red dots will fade the green dot stays very visible. Night shooting with a light is even better and the Green dot sticks out like a sore thumb.
Guy, WW244 is available and shoots very clean with 125 grain bullets. I use it exclusively in my 9MM and have found it is not dirty at all and the amount you use enables it to go a bit further than other powders.
I picked up a box a while back and tried using them for Deer which I found to be disappointing. They act like solids and would be better used as such. Going from a Revolver to a rifle would I'm sure definitely help in the velocity department and may make a difference in performance.
Jim, My first hunt in Colorado was 1999 and the person behind the counter asked for my Driver's license. She checked my DOB and said "you're good to go" My hunting buddy who was considerably younger than me had to show his Florida certificate (which was valid in Colorado) He was ok'd also. Just...
Jim, if you're in the market for primers and you have a Bass Pro in the area give them a yell. I picked up 1000 Federal small pistol for $59.95. The Mag primers were about $3.00 more. Saves Hazmat and shipping.
You are definitely not limited by your scope. All I have ever used on my .338 RUM for Elk is a 1.5X6 I have never felt a need to go to any more power. My elk have been taken with the Scope on 4X and one with the scope set on 6X.
For that kind of money I would look no further than Randall knives. I own five from a long time past (before they tripled in price and you had to wait five years to get one). You can find them at gun shows at a somewhat reasonable price in excellent working order. They will handle any job you...
Very interesting comment. I'm 81 and my shooting habits have basically changed over to handguns. I'm still qualifying on a yearly basis for my HR 218 and both that and just plain having fun takes up my time. I've hunted deer in Maine since 1960 and with a couple of side trips to New York state...
Guy, Quick question, Have you checked with any of the local PD's yet on getting recertified with the HR-218. I had good luck with our local Sheriff's Department. Initially tried our local men in Blue but they lacked the manpower to assist.
