I want to take this winter and try to really maximize my LAW 280 AI. The 140 nosler accubond was great in it as a factory load this fall so that is the bullet I want to play with. My goal is to find accuracy, safely in the 3250 FPS range which should be doable.
I had my mind set on Re 26, but...
One last deer trip this year to fill my Idaho Non Resident tag. As a resident, I always buy one so I can harvest 2 deer in a season and use the second one as a "trophy tag"
Well I found "that" buck... Was bedded on a knife ridge 3 miles from the trailhead. He is right at 30" wide and grosses...
Was able to get out this last weekend here in Idaho and harvest this nice 3x4 muley. This is buck one as I always buy my Idaho tag and then buy a Non Resident tag so you can harvest 2 deer in a year. I will be back up this weekend looking for a big guy to put tag 2 on.
Was a great hunt with a...
I had been hesitant to share my trip because long story short - it was a failure/a dud....
I hunted in some Amazing country and put in 84 miles on the horses and another 37 on foot according to my gps. The guides and horses/camp were good and I had no problem with them at all or any of the...
So last Sunday I was able to harvest a nice black bear here in idaho...

What wasn't shared in that post was that I had a little adventure with my load. The load I had worked up was 1/2-3/4" load - 77.0 of n540, cci 250's and a 260 partition in Hornady Brass. This load...
On a side note, figured I would share the bullet performance.
The bear was at 215 yards nearly head on - very strong quartering towards me but at a down hill angle. The bullet it mid shoulder, went through lungs, guts, and exited out the rear leg leaving a whole the size of a softball. Went...
Bear Selfie Saturday? I surely earned this one. Found him heading down for a drink 4 miles in, in some nasty country. 215 yard shot with the 375 H&H and 260 Nosler Partition at 2800 FPS put him down for the count. However, like all bears, he found a crap hole to die in...my pack was as heavy as...
So I got back out this morning before work. I took out 10 rounds - 5 140 accubonds with 60.0 of H4831sc and 5 at 60.5. I shot 60.0 grains and sure enough, just started to hit pressures. No marks on the brass, but primers just started flattening out. Accuracy was great - 5 shots at approx 1.25"...
So I have been playing with another 270 (cant have too many) This one is a Tikka t3x Superlight (22.5" fluted barrel) That is bedded in a McMillan Sako Classic Stock with Talleys and a Swaro Z3 4-12X50 BT on it - Barrel is fully floated and I adjusted the trigger down to 2.5 pounds...Great...
Morning of Sept 12th, I will be leaving Boise, headed north to the Liard River Hotsprings area to hunt with Gunson Outfitters for Moose and Caribou. Excited is an understatement - other than the 31 hour drive...lol This is a remote horseback hunt near the Yukon border. Will focus on a big Trophy...
Leupold knocked it out of the park and had me a new scope in hand in a week (VXR 2-7X33 went bad on the 375 H&H) after explaining I had a moose/caribou/grizz hunt in BC coming up very quick and this was the rifle I was taking. (Much Respect to Them)
So I got it mounted in a little better system...
Am I the only one having a heck of time finding these? Everyone is either out of stock or back ordered? Is Nosler cutting production on them? I finally found "the load" for my 375H&H (260 Nos., 77 of n540, cci 250) for 2850 FPS and 1/2-3/4" accuracy, but I am out of bullets and cant find any...
I am hoping it doesn't come to it...and for now wont go into details cause I am hoping Leupold can fix the problem... but...
There may be the chance I will be taking my 270 WSM on my Northern BC moose/caribou adventure. This is a very accurate gun that can shoot long, but thats not going to...
So tomorrow morning I will head down and pick up my Whittakers Special - Tikka 22-250 1/8 twist. I have some talleys and for now (just so I can shoot it) will throw a 3-9x40 zeiss conquest on it. (I am thinking a SS 3-9X will be its permanent scope down the road)
I want to use this as a LW back...
I am not sure of the mountain ranges, but I am hunting with Gunson Outfitters in an area north of the Liard River Hotsprings up towards the Yukon Border. I am assuming that is big open country. Outfitter says we are so close to the border, the Yukon moose wonder back and forth. Basically a...
The last couple weeks I have been doing final tweaking to my loads and shooting - a bunch! (60+ 375 rounds and my shoulder is tender right now lol) So as of today with it being 50 days out till I leave to Northern BC/Yukon border area to go chase Monster Moose, Mountain Caribou, and possibly a...
Has anyone played around with this combo yet? I just ordered some of the bullets and have some reloader 26 I would love to try....If i can accurately push this to 3100-3200 FPS - WOW....
Stocky's had a McMillan in stock so I ordered it last week for my Vanguard DGR 375 H&H. Was going to do a bunch of mods on it for a moose hunt this September, but have recently decided against it. Going to get the new McMillan bedded and start working up a load.(playing with r15 and 270 tsx...
Winchester 70 270 win. Started life as a South Carolina supergrade model. Since then It has had a new shilen, mcmillan, and timney put on it. Also Williams Bottom Metal. Has had a few different scopes as well. In the approx 8 years I have had it, the rifle has accounted for:
10 mule deer (8 by...
