I've got the dies but haven't loaded anything for the Whelen, so hopefully we can develop some good operating ammo.

Gun jams repeatedly using Remington factory with 250 grn. ammo, but works flawlessly with Hornady 200 grn. ammo
Anybody have an explanation? With the 250 grn. The bolt does not come back enough to eject the empty. I would have thought the extra weight hence recoil, of the 250 round would have...
Thanks Jerry, I have only loaded for .270, 06, 257AI and .243, all bolts.
Not looking for velocity, as been suggested I'd likely stick closely to Remington tailor mades.

I have a new 750 Remington Carbine (18.5" barrel)chambered in 35 Whelen. I plan on handloading some 250 grn bullets. I'm looking for any suggestions for loads that might work well in this autoloader.
What would be the best powder for this short barrel?
