So, I'd appreciate a few other perspectives. I'm in the process of working up a load for my new hunting rifle (Tikka T3x lite in 7mm-08). I've been working with the 140 grain E-tip and found a promising load that I'd like to play with more. The load is:
140 E-tip, 41.5 grains varget @2.775"...
Are you saying that there's a new version of the book that has the H 4350 data for 140 grain bullets, now? I called Nosler the other day and they said they didn't. They recommended I use the 140 and 145 grain data on the Hodgdon website as guidance, which I can do, I just like having as much...
Never tried it, but it strikes me as a waste of money. One of the beauties of a round like the .35 Rem is that just about any bullet will hold together well at those velocities. No need for bonding.
Mine shoots terribly, but it does the job I need it to. I keep it with just a ghost ring and a fiber optic front sight. It's my bad weather/brush gun and I only need it to shoot minute-of-deer at <100 yards, which it will do.
However, I went on a kick, at one point, trying to find an...
Thanks all! I'm surprised, I thought H 4350 would push it a little faster than that. I'm guessing the LRX is a tad longer than the ttsx and might eat up a little more case capacity, as well.
Barnes doesn't seem to have any data for H 4350 and the 7mm-08. I'm looking to try the following load:
7mm-08
2.775"
139 grain Barnes LRX
H 4350
22" barrel
If you were willing to run that for me, on Quick Loads, I'd be very grateful!
What's the current status of Quick Loads, in terms of what platforms it's available on, etc? Last I checked, it was not available on Mac. Seems to me like it would make an excellent app, and one that just about every reloader in the world would pay good money for, if it was just accessible and...
If you wouldn't mind: I'm trying to figure out which powder I'm going to use to play with the 139 Barnes LRX in 7mm-08. (I only have 12 bullets which I got for free). Any chance you could run one of those lists of various powders?
7mm-08, 139 Barnes LRX, 2.775"
Thank you!
Mine is currently shooting 140 e-tips.
Federal case, H 4895 to right around 2700fps. WLR, I think it's 2.775"
It shoots right around 1" from my M-70 featherweight. I've cooked up more accurate loads using accubonds and ballistic tips, but am feeling pretty good about shooting lead-free these...
Do they make a 150 accubond, now (other than the LR)? Your question about data sounds like a good one for Quick Loads... I've never owned a 7x57, but I do reload for a 7mm-08 and I'd guess that the velocities you're hoping for are very optimistic.
My favorite powder. I use it for almost every load my family shoots, in .30-06, .308 and 7mm-08. I don't get dazzling velocity from any of them, but I get consistent, accurate loads at regular ol' velocities. It doesn't seem very sensitive to temps, it's great for reduced kid loads and the...
I switched from 140 accubonds, to 140 e tips in my 7mm-08. I've been able to get very similar results, in terms of velocity, by just going with a longer length. Both loads are running about 2700fps with H 4895 and both are accurate. The accubond is at 2.75" and the e tip is at 2.775"
Good luck!
Yeah, this is a peep sighted brush gun. It gets used inside of 100 yards, so I don't really care whether I get 2600 fps, 2700, etc. Right now, I shoot a pretty hot load of 4895 with 180 speer hot cors and get 2650fps out of the 19" barrel, with no noticable muzzle flash.
